Within the first few games of the NHL season, one can already see the improvements that the New York Rangers have made. They won their first 2 games against the Columbus Blue Jackets and another against last year's Stanley Cup champions, the Chicago Blackhawks.
Head coach of the Rangers, Alain Vigneault, gained his 100th win as NYR coach on Oct. 9. Players such as Henrik Lundqvist have high expectations to be met. "You feel that, walking in, the expectations are higher now. It takes more out of you, but I think it's more fun when you put that pressure on the group and yourself. You want to try and be up there and compete to win," said goalie, Lundqvist. He's been with the Rangers for all 11 years of his NHL career. None of these years have ended with a Stanley Cup. After falling short two years in a row, Lundqvist is more determined than ever this season.
In his last game against the Blue Jackets, Lundqvist had 37 saves. One of which was such an amazing save it seemed impossible ... but not for The King.
Oscar Lindberg scored in his first three NHL games with the Rangers. In his second game against Columbus he scored twice. He's definitely one to watch.
The Rangers' next game is Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. They take on the Jets at Madison Square Garden.
