NYC Is The Fascinating City That Never Sleeps

Close your eyes and imagine yourself walking the streets of New York City. People are rushing past you as they quickly make their way to work, dogs are barking loudly throughout Central Park, taxi cab drivers are yelling at one another as they try too not hit people crossing the streets and you are on the corner of the block about to make your way to eat a delicious New York bagel. As you open your eyes you may think that everything you just imagined couldn't be more chaotic but in reality is no less than the norm of a New York City day. One that I wish I could live 365 days of the year.

Whoever thought that you could love something that is not just a person or thing but a place. A place that makes you feel like you are completely at home or you have simply found yourself. This one location that never fails to put a smile on my face is the upbeat and traffic crazy city of New York.

When thinking of the "Big Apple," tourists tend to relate it to the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Station, Central Park or Time Square - all amazing places to visit but tourist traps in itself that's for sure. For myself and many others, the thought of New York City makes us envy the delicious cuisine and the opportunities that await. These opportunities don't just include the possibility of running into your favorite celebrity of all time in a high-end department store but they include the possibility of finding your future or a career that you could end up loving.

The endless amounts of career opportunities that New York has waiting at your fingertips are what makes the city so diverse. No matter who you are or what you want to be, when you grow up the city is ready to help make your dream a reality, big or small. The fear of not being able to be yourself is one that New York doesn't hold back. It lets you be you, no matter what the circumstance is. Feeling free and alive are two traits that city never fails to make someone feel, making me love this place more than I can ever put into words.

Each and every day you wake up to the sounds of the hectic streets of the ones who are first getting back from a night out... hence why the city never sleeps. Sounds intimidating, right? Living in a city that is known to NEVER sleep and is bigger than yourself. Well, I promise, once you allow New York City to be your place you will never want to leave.

New York City is inevitably one of the greatest places to ever be. It is a place that always makes me feel welcomed and a place I hope to soon call my home.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
