Hey Girl,

It’s December and the final weeks of 2017 are upon us. It’s kind of scary. You're slowly moving towards a whole other year of your life. Thinking about how time passes is kind of trippy. Even yesterday your mind was in completely different place. Whether you like it or not you’re constantly moving forward, even if you still sometimes dwell on the past.

This is a celebration to you, and everything that you have accomplished, as well as acknowledging everything you have not accomplished. It is important to not only focus on either positive or negative but to acknowledge the things that for you to the place that you are at this moment, in this second.

To focus is to dwell, to become consumed in a thought that is no longer your present; But to acknowledge is to take a brief moment to notice a thought process that produced a result. It is important to acknowledge. It is important to acknowledge the growth you've made physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

You physically became responsible for your being and became aware of your body. You began to listen to it, and hydrate it. You began to push it three times a week at the gym. You listened to it when it was tired and you meditated when it was weary. You connected with it, so acknowledge that fact, but know you can do more.

You mentally became responsible for your being. Part of that is your job as a student, but you took it to the next level. You decided to read books because you were interested, you watch documentaries, and most importantly this year, you became more socially aware. You debated and explained and listened and obtained knowledge of other walks of life. Acknowledge your mental growth, but know that you can push yourself further.

You spiritually became responsible for your being. On your knees, you prayed. On Sundays you praised. You’ve learned more about the Bible this year than you have the past fifteen. You cried at the word of God and spiritually your soul became a little more fulfilled. Yet you don’t always practice what is preached. Acknowledge your spiritual highs, work on your spiritual lows.

You emotionally became more conscious. Before you were too trusting in this world, in having all your faith in all of mankind. You didn’t put up a whole wall, but you watched who you surround yourself with. You protected those feelings that are apart of you. You took that emotional burden of worrying about everyone all the time off of yourself, but as a result you started to disconnect with your emotions. It is important to acknowledge your emotional state, and balance your emotional being.

Here's to a balanced and fruitful 2018!

Love,

Me

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
