As the new year begins, new fashion trends start making their appearances. Every new semester of college always seems to bring new popular trends for college girls to obsess over and wear 24/7. Sometimes new trends are just old trends modified, just like how '90s style has made a way back into being trendy.

Here are a few trends that are making their way into the closets of college girls in 2018.

1. Statement Earrings

Oversized earrings have become a popular accessory for all! They help take a simple outfit and bring a pop of color that gives a "wow" factor to your style. With so many to choose from you can match any outfit with any pair of oversized earrings!

2. Hats

You heard it here first! Hats are making a comeback especially 'the messenger' hat (AKA newsboy hat). They add a new kind of flair to your outfit and they are also perfect for those days when your hair just isn't working with you.

3. Buckled Shoes

We have already had the Western belt trend sweep college campuses. Now they are taking over our shoes! No complaints though, this trend is super cute for any outfit you put on!

4. Oversized Blazers

One of the biggest trends that is making a comeback is the men's style for women. Fashionable trousers, blouses and blazers have been the talk of the town in women's fashion. Using it for street style, work uniforms or just a casual outfit have been the most popular ways to pull off this trend.

5. PVC

While this trend is different and unique, it's still a popular trend that many stores have been using to create new styles. It's used in almost every type of clothing you see. You can see it as accents on coats, as well as attached to jeans, shoes and purses.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
