Let me start off by saying I love Christmas. Just..not a month and some weeks in advance. Here are a few reasons why:
1. This is not “the most wonderful time of the year.” I haven’t even figured out if this is a semi-decent time of the year, let alone the best.
2. I cannot make my Christmas list yet. I haven’t even finalized my list of classes for next semester yet.
3. It is 80 degrees in my dorm room. I don’t have time to think about this mystical, magical “white Christmas” you speak of.
4. I love iced coffee more than I love some people. I don’t want you Starbucks Caramel Brulee Latte (and even if I did, it would be iced, but that’s a whole different issue).
5. Back to the dorm room- as I’ve said, it is 80 degrees. I don’t want to wear a sweater and curl up with a Christmas movie. I want to wear a tank top and flip-flops to class most days (except it is freezing as soon as I get outside)
6. I don’t have the patience to talk about snow falling. The leaves haven’t even finished falling yet.
7. I don’t have the willpower to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas. There is a whole other Charlie Brown movie that comes after The Great Pumpkin. It’s A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING. Not Christmas.
8. Christmas music is about spending time with family and enjoying a season of love and togetherness. There are still at least 2 more weeks of this semester before I can relax enough to consider spending more than a weekend at home.
9. Back to Thanksgiving- it hasn’t even happened yet. I am not even ready for THAT break, let alone the six-week one coming up for the winter.
10. Stores are still selling off the last of the Halloween candy. I cannot even begin to think about buying Christmas things.
I’m sure there are many people who will disagree with me on this, but I think waiting until after Thanksgiving to think about Christmas is the best key to a “holly, jolly” holiday season.
Do you agree? Let me know!
