As I'm writing this, I just finished packing my clothes, jewelry, makeup, etc to move into college. It's so crazy to me that after falling in love with the University of Delaware over a year ago, I am finally moving in. I have everything ready to pack away and bring with me that it's basically taking up my whole dining room.
It's even crazier to think that by the time this article is published, I'll be moved into my dorm with my roommate and meeting all these new people from everywhere you can imagine. I'll maybe be in bed, or in class, or hanging out with (hopefully) the new friends I'll have made. No matter what I'm doing though, I'll still be away from my family.
There'll be no more family dinners every night, getting açai bowls with my sister at least two times a week, or watching movies with my grandma. I know I'll be home to visit, but it's so weird to me that the routine I've had set for all these years is changing. Now that I'm off to college, I'll need to start a whole new routine with new people and surroundings.
As excited that I am to meet these people and go out, I think I forget sometimes that I'm going to college to actually learn (sorry Mom and Dad). I'm excited to learn and gain new experiences inside and outside the classroom. I'm excited to meet people within my major and learn from them as well, as everyone has different outlooks on things.
I can't wait to have the University of Delaware as my second home and to meet my second family, even if it means that I have to finally start adulting, whatever that means.
I'm sure I'll figure it out along the way.
