Now that finals are over and you are just about to catch your breath, grades are released. Maybe you had a phenomenal semester and made perfect grades, raising your GPA even higher. Maybe you struggled, taking several hard courses, and your GPA isn't as great as you wish it was. Whatever the case may be, it is okay.
It's okay not to have a perfect semester. Sometimes life gets in the way. You might get overwhelmed with reality, you might have to get a demanding job in order to have money to live off of, etc. Things happen, life happens, and that is normal.
Don't let a rough semester bring your break down. Even if it wasn't perfect, you still survived it.
I know it can be hard to stay positive when you hear about how great all of your friends did this semester. Seeing someone post about their grades and their high GPA can make you feel like a disappointment. Don't let it. Be proud of your friends and their achievements, but don't let that make you feel like yours aren't praise-worthy either.
So what if you didn't make a 4.0 this semester? Now you know that you have to work harder to get one. Maybe you took too many time demanding classes. Work out a better schedule next semester so you have plenty of time to devote to each class.
Maybe you got tired and lazy. Most people won't tell you this, but that is okay too. College is hard, life is hard, and both are exhausting. There is a difference between going out and partying all the time and trying your hardest. Sometimes your hardest and best just isn't enough sometimes. And that is okay.
If you are ever feeling down about life or about failing, go to YouTube and watch motivational videos. I know this sounds corny and cliche, but my boyfriend makes me watch them when I'm feeling down about school, and they really do help.
No matter how your semester turns out, just know it isn't the end of the world. In five years, that bad grade won't matter. In 10 years you will be laughing at how stressed you were about school. And in 20+ years, you will be giving your child advice while they are in the same position you were in.
Take a deep breath, work hard, and know that this is just a minor bump in the road.
