After competing in pageantry for three years, you catch yourself saying or doing some pretty different things… here is a list of the 20 most common things I would say during my reign...
- The smell of a fresh spray tan can be relaxing
- You are more than one type of "extension" (eyelashes, hair, etc.)
- When you are late to an event and you perfectly put on your crown at the red light without having to look at yourself
- You think to yourself "Wow, I hope I can fit into this gown today"
- Cat Woman? Do you mean Miss America 1955 Lee Meriwether?
- When you have 80 pageant moms and they all rush over for that local titleholder picture you get at the end of a crowning ceremony
- When 5k's become your Saturday morning ritual
- Updating your boyfriend during local pageants on how the girls are doing and who is winning even though he has no idea what you are talking about, but he plays a long
- Constantly having to explain to people which organization was owned by President Trump and involved the Steve Harvey accident
- "I brought like 3 bottles of butt glue and yes girl, of course, I will help you apply it."
- We are "titleholders", not queens or princesses
- When you drink a large Redbull on pageant day but want to be "healthy" so you make it sugar-fre
- You will always have 1 bobby pin in your hair even when you do not even realize it
- Need some quick energy? Here are 5 chocolate covered espresso beans
- You know it is a good day when you can feel your feet after a long weekend of wearing Chinese Laundry heels
- Eating a doughnut and saying state prep starts tomorrow
- When you have 6 personal social media accounts and 6 titleholder accounts and you cannot even keep up with yourself
- When you get distracted by that one cute judge on the panel (let's not lie to ourselves ladies)
- Nothing is more embarrassing than falling in sash and crown
- And saving the best for last, your love for children grows immensely and so does your love for the community you serve. You are thankful for the opportunity you have been given every day.
