On December 7, I woke up to the amazing news that BTS has been nominated for a Grammy! Since I became a fan of the group earlier this year, I've been fortunate enough to see them earn a vast variety of awards. And since hearing Suga say that his next goal was for the group to earn a Grammy, I think all ARMY have been hopeful.
The group is officially nominated for Best Recording Package for the album “Love Yourself: Tear." If they win, the award will be presented to HuskyFox, the album's art director. Nevertheless, being the first K-Pop group nominated for a Grammy is just the latest in BTS' record-breaking achievements.
Earlier this year, BTS experienced great success in a world tour, which included a few shows in the United States. Multiple times, and through multiple awards ceremonies, BTS has been recognized for their unique connectivity to their fan base through social media. Additionally, RM's solo mixtape, "Mono", released on October 23, earned the rapper his first solo #1 on a Billboard Chart. This is especially impressive when you consider the success BTS has experienced on Billboard Charts-- both as a group, and for the rappers J-Hope, Suga, and RM, as solo artists. Further, BTS has received many, many awards for their latest album, "Love Yourself: Answer." However, there are far too many for me to list in this article, so I urge you to look into it.
All of this success during awards season seems to validate what ARMY already knows: that BTS is taking the world by storm. Even while admiring BTS for their awards based on talent, it is important to appreciate all they have done to raise awareness for social issues and the value of self-love.
