Winter is one of those seasons that we can have a love-hate relationship with. I am one of those people that are on the hate portion of that equation. A part of me wishes I lived in a city with warm weather every day, because I hate being cold.
The winter is nothing to fool around with. You never know what the weather is going to be like when you wake up or even if your car is going to start. There are many things that can go wrong, and people who live in North Dakota sure know what we deal with half of the year.
People need to be considerate and have common sense when it comes to driving; they need to realize that the roads should be treated with caution, and realize they not driving in the summer when roads are going to be perfect every day.
It is not fun getting into an accident if you wake up and you don't expect it. So pray that you have insurance on the nice things you have because unexpected situations can arise. Yes, I realize that they are called accidents for a reason. But my question is, why do people ask you who was at fault? If it was somebody's fault, is it really an accident then?
To me, the best part is when the snow comes down in light snowflakes and there is frost on the trees. My favorite quote is, "Having cold hands just means I have a warm heart."
I can't complain too much. I love North Dakota, and for a state that no one knows where it is at, we have a lot of great things about our state that should be recognized.
Living in a big city doesn't intrigue my interest. So if I can survive the -40 degree weather, then that just means more blankets and hot chocolate to come home to.
North Dakota is forever home.
