For a few years now, I've discovered something: I love tea! And while most Southern born and bred people would agree, my love for tea is a far cry from the South's idea of tea.
I do not like sweet tea.
I used to, but now I don't. You see, my love for tea blossomed due to pure, unsweetened, black tea. I discovered what a proper cuppa tea is all about whilst in my freshman year of college.
I had been experimenting with hot tea from microwaving a cup of sweet tea to adding bunches of honey to unsweetened hot tea. I thoroughly enjoyed adding the honey to my tea, and I went to green tea with just a teaspoon of honey my first semester of college. If I didn't have honey, I was able to go without. My first December in college is when I started stocking up on many different teas, from herbal to breakfast to mango-flavored to white, I had begun to have my hand in trying all sorts of different teas.
Before long, my obsession with hot tea crept into my iced tea diet. I had switched from sweet tea to half unsweet and half sweet. That didn't last long, so I eventually just preferred straight up unsweet tea with a lemon slice. This drink became my favorite iced-cold refreshment!
Even as I sit here and write, I am drinking one of my favorites: green tea with added mango.
So why would I chose my choice of tea over sweet tea or coffee?
It's healthy, delicious, and sweet tea is sugared-down water with a hint of tea added. And for coffee, tea is much less caffeinated.
