I personally love researching amazing places to see in the world and imagining future trips. I'm fascinated by Europe but there are a million destinations outside of that continent that are worth investing time in! Below are 10 places to go from all the continents except Europe (and Antarctica, although I totally want to go there, too).
1. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This city has it all, from twin skyscrapers with 88 floors to a Hindu temple set into caves. Kuala Lumpur blends modern architecture and skyscrapers with hawker stalls and colonial architecture.
2. Kyoto, Japan
Talk about a great history! This was previously the capital of Japan (it's also an anagram for the current capital, Tokyo!) and the city has countless Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, and classic architecture. If you are fascinated by formal Japanese traditions and beautiful gardens, this is the city for you.
3. Salvador de Bahia, Brazil
Salvador is a city right on the coastline with gorgeous beaches and a thriving nightlife. There is a lot of history preserved here with cobblestone roads and 18th-century churches.
4. Phuket, Thailand
Phuket is a gorgeous island with rainforests, mountains, and beaches. There are many high end resorts and busy markets to enjoy at this tropical oasis.
5. Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Town is surrounded by natural beauty and filled with wonderful people. There are beautiful botanical gardens, views of two oceans, delicious food and local markets to enjoy.
6. Reykjavik, Iceland
Striking modern architecture, gorgeous mountainous and oceanic views, and Viking history all make this city a unique place that anyone can enjoy.
7. Seoul, South Korea
Tradition meets innovation in this unique city. Seoul is an incredible modern city with tall skyscrapers and advanced technology. This city is also home to Buddhist temples and traditional culture.
8. Laya, Bhutan
This remote location in the mountains is unique and shrouded in mystery. The people here have their own dialect and customs. It is known as the hidden village, surrounded in mountains and secluded from the world.
9. Quebec City, Canada
Quebec has unique architecture and history! My friend Allie said "seeing the French influence in the architecture of the buildings there was really cool. My favorite thing was seeing the mix of French and British influence throughout the city in the food and culture."
10. Auckland, New Zealand
This modern city is centered around two major harbors. There are a plethora of cafes and bars to visit. This city is also situated near an extinct volcano!
