This is probably the hardest loss in my life that I have ever experienced
I can’t remember a day towards the end of the first semester and beginning of the 2nd semester when everyone on campus was cheering on the Dawgs in any kind of way, whether it is at a basketball game, on the drill field; you name it, we supported and cheered them on throughout every step of the way,
Watching and being a part of the season, hearing all the hype after making it to the national championship and of course taking the L in 2017, what our team was going to do. People were, of course, doubting us but we defied all odds and made it to the championship for the second year in a row.
This game, they started AND ended with such passion and athleticism, but in the end, it just wasn’t enough.
They played this game and every game with so much heart and when the game ended you felt the heartbreak both on and off the court.
After all, that being said, I will never give up on the Dawgs. This loss just means that we will come back next year even harder with the drive to make it to the national championships again. They will make sure that they are ready for every play and call. The season may have ended that night, but the grind never stops.
To the girls, thank you for giving us another amazing season. You made every single minute worth it, even when I had to cover my eyes.
To the coaches, thank you for being there for the girls at all times. You made sure they were at practice, executing every play like they are in the game. Making them work hard for what they want because no one was just going to hand them this kind of season.
And finally, to the fans, thank you for being there. If it wasn’t for you, The Hump would be empty and they would have nobody to play for. Without you the girls would have never made it to this, you are their extended support system.
So, here is to next year. To working harder, playing harder, dreaming bigger, and to being a bulldog. Until then, HAIL STATE!
