It’s that time of year again. The time of leaves changing color and falling, chilly weather, coats, breezes, and spookiness. It is also the time of an addiction that plagues our nation. Thousands each year fall into the deadly trap of pumpkin spice.
Now, most people begin using recreationally with pumpkin spice lattes. It seems harmless at first. “It just tastes so good!” they squeal with delight. What they don’t know is that their brain is becoming dependent on this euphoria.
After lattes comes yogurt, then it moves onto crackers. More hardroce addicts start going after cookies or bread. Those almost beyond saving keep candles in their homes, so there is never a moment where they aren’t getting their fix.
It’s sad to see my friends trapped in this sick cycle. Why, just yesterday I saw my friend cry because starbucks ran out of pumpkin spice lattes. We tried holding an intervention, but she couldn’t let go. We checked her into a rehabilitation center before things got bad.
It boggles my mind that most people haven’t caught on to this sickness that is attacking the U.S. We need to educate our youth so they know the dangers of the drug called Pumpkin Spice. I know that I won’t be letting my own kids near it. I hope they don’t have to grow up surrounded by it like I have.
The current death total of pumpkin spice users climbs into the double digits. Its staggering and makes me want to cry.
