If you are a Cardinals fan, you know how exciting October is. In fact, it is probably one of your favorite months. There is nothing better than an October night in Busch.
October is filled with memories in St. Louis. On October 14,1985 Ozzie Smith hit a walk off homerun to win game 5 of the NLCS. Jack Buck's famous saying "Go crazy folks, go crazy," will always remind St. Louis people of October. During the NLCS of the 2006 World Series, Yadier Molina hit a huge homerun to put the Cardinals on top of the Mets.
On October 22, 2011, Albert Pujols had the game of a life time. He had three home runs joining Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson for a single World Series Game. The Cardinals went on to beat the Rangers 16-7 that game. And then on October 27, David Freese made his name known. The Cardinals were down 5-7, and the Rangers were one strike away from becoming 2011 World Champs. Freese hit a triple and tied up the game. The Cardinals were back in it. And then in the bottom of the 11th, David Freese hit a walk off homerun to advance the Cardinals to Game 7.
Sadly, this year, no more October memories will be made. After making it to the post season year after year, I am still in disbelief that this year will not be our year. The Cardinals just didn't have it in them this year. They were head to head with the Brewers and Rockies and couldn't pull off enough wins for a chance to play in the Wild Card. But Cardinals fans, do not give up hope. I have no doubt the Cardinals will be back and better than ever next year. I mean we are known for our awesome comebacks.
I must admit it's going to be weird not going to any post season games and waving the rally towel this October, but I know the Cardinals will be making a post season appearance next year. Cardinals Nation- stay strong. This postseason will be painful to watch. And remember, the Cubs will be out of the post season before you know it. Go Cards!
