The culture of a city relies on its people, its surroundings, its sports teams, its arts, and one other very important thing: its food. The food of a region is something that every inhabitant from the area identifies with. And you haven't seen Cincinnati until you've tasted these foods.
Graeter's Ice Cream
This Cincinnati ice cream chain is known for its signature Black Raspberry Chip flavor, but with over 20 year round flavors and a number of seasonal ones, there's something for everyone.
Tom + Chee Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup
This restaurant cleverly reinvented the classic comfort food by making grilled cheese on a donut, and its been a success.
LaRosa's Pizza
I might be slightly biased, because I have yet to find a pizza anywhere that I didn't like, but LaRosa's is certainly one of the best. Three words for you: BBQ Chicken Pizza.
Taste of Belgium Waffles
As Leslie Knope once said "Why would anyone want to eat anything besides breakfast food?" And while Taste of Belgium has a whole menu of items to try, anything with waffles is going to be your best bet.
The Eagle Fried Chicken
The original Eagle restaurant is located in Over-the-Rhine and is known for its fried chicken. In addition, there are a number of other dishes to rave about. A few of my favorites are the brown sugar bacon, the grilled cheese, the spoonbread, and the Mac & Cheese.
Hotman's Donuts
Also located in Over the Rhine, these donuts are perfect any time of day.
Montgomery Inn
The BBQ sauce is so good that they've been selling it in bottles since 1990.
Dewey's Caprice Pizza
Again I included another pizza place. But for pizza as good as this, it was necessary.
Skyline Chili
With over 130 locations in four states, this Cincinnati original is the most well known Cincinnati dish, and its what natives from the city miss most when they leave.
This is the food of Cincinnati. Its the food made for its people, by its people, and its some of the things we love most about living here.
