The NFL Top 100 Players Of 2016

As a pretty intense football fan — one who loses her voice almost every Sunday night — when the Super Bowl is over, life just seems boring when you aren't trash talking, betting and ordering pizza because you are too glued to the game to actually make dinner. However, the NFL keeps us intrigued in the summer because of the Players Top 100, when the NFL players vote for who is the best of the best. I have been an avid watcher for the last three years, since they started uploading the numbers on Youtube, allowing easier access for watching. And like always, there were some surprises; players missing from the list, players being put too high or too low, and some the public hasn't even heard of. However, that's actually pretty interesting, for it is not the public voting for names they know, but players voting on who they think is the best of the best. These guys played against one another. They know what they're talking about.

So I am going to dissect some of their decisions. No, I am not a sports analysts, but just a very intrigued fan. And if there are any people who are going after me for being a girl...just don't. We watch the same game, we know the same names. Thinking about football has no gender. And this isn't in depth; just my personal reactions. Also, I am going to put aside my love of the Green Bay Packers and look at this like I am just football fan.

Should have at least been mentioned:Peyton Manning, Calvin Johnson and Marshawn Lynch
Yeah their numbers didn't speak that great in their last season, with Peyton getting intercepted every other throw, Lynch getting hurt, and Johnson not in his usual Megatron form. However, these guys are Hall of Famers! Peyton was Tom Brady's match and he won Super Bowl 50 (with the help of a killer defense of course), Lynch ran over people. and Johnson showed what a wide receiver should be- they're some of the greats. I'm not saying they have to be in the top 10, but a nice farewell nod from their peers would have been nice, especially after seeing how high they placed for 2015. Maybe the players couldn't vote for the veterans due to their retirement, but who knows?

Should have been way higher:

Julian Edelman: Tom Brady's number one guy and he goes 87, only four up from last year. This guy had a great year despite being injured, and he showed up pretty good in the post season. This wide receiver is definitely more than a little guy to those who watch; he gave the Patriots that little extra boost they needed when downs were getting lower.

Von Miller: The players put the Super Bowl MVP at 15? The one man wrecking ball to Tom Brady and Cam Newton (who are number 2 and 1 in the Players' 100)? He pretty much won The Super Bowl!

Russell Wilson: Okay, I will admit it. Russell Wilson's second half of the season beat my quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, by a long shot. His numbers were off the chart, Baldwin and he were a well oiled machine, and he actually lead a hell of a comeback against Carolina in the playoffs! He may be at a nice spot as number 17, but after showing off his fast feet, and stronger arm, I believe he should have had more props from his peers.

Pleasant Surprises:
Drew Brees:
He kind of flew under the public's radar this year, but his numbers don't lie. His touchdowns don't lie! Number 30? I thought he would move down from last year, but the man still has some juice in him to make the Saints look just a bit nicer, despite their defensive malfunctions.

Larry Fitzgerald: The old man still has some juice in him, moving up forty-one from last year to make it to 27 on the Players Top 100. This man has the speed, and flew the Arizona Cardinals, with Palmer on his wing, to one hell of a season. Only the nearly perfect Panthers could slow him down. He deserves the boost!

Todd Gurley: A Rookie at the number 22 spot? That's his starting point! Beckham's starting point was number 32, so damn Gurley! This boy better live up to the "young Adrian Peterson" label his peers are giving him. Let's see what he can do when he settles into his second season.

Adrian Petterson: He only played one game last year, and his peers still voted him number 62 in 2015. Now he's number 5 and the best running back in the league at age thirty one! His defensive opponents still have bruises from the hits, and I see it fit to give him that respect this year. He was the best this year, and he will continue to be the best if he has anything to say about it.

Deserves it:
Josh Norman: He beat out Richard Sherman and Patrick Peterson to be the best corner in the league, at number 11. He also got into number 10, Odell Beckham Jr.'s head along with some of the best NFL targets' heads as well. He's a big reason Carolina was so good this year.

Antonio Brown: Sixth Round pick and best receiver in the league at number four? Little guy with some great dance moves? I'll take that and so will the players. Good choice and thumbs up for the Steeler's star.

Luke Kuechly: Another Panther's star, this linebacker was the best at his position (number seven in the pole) due to the fact that he is smart and he's ferocious, both qualities his peers pointed out vividly. Even during the Super Bowl, he stepped up and made tackles when needed, really making the game a battle of defenses.

JJ Watt: I don't need to say much. The dude's a beast who eats 3000 calories a day, and goes to bed at eight at night. He's committed, he's scary and he helped lead the Texans to the division title. Round of applause, let's turn down for Watt at number 3.

Tom Brady: Despite wishing Rodgers (at number 6) was above Brady (number 2) due to personal preference, I will give it to the Pats quarterback. With a poor offensive line, and with Edelman hurt for most of the season, he still managed to be the smart, quick thinking quarterback New England loves and everyone else loves to hate (and secretly wishes to have). He and Gronk (number 9) were unstoppable this year, except for Von Miller.

Cam Newton: He invented the dab. He broke some serious records. And he was almost perfect. He's superman, and he deserves number 1 even when coming up short in The Super Bowl. However, I expect to see him on that big stage shorty if he keeps his easy going but strong game up. Props to you Cam! The Players Top 100 crown is yours, and I think the whole public agrees.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
