New York's Nuisance: A Never-Ending Winter

I just don't understand how you could possibly still be excited about this snow

I'm so over this snow. The fact that my university in the city has closed twice already in the past month due to snow is ridiculous.

It is March. It is spring. How in the world is there still snow assaulting us every week? This must be Mother Nature's revenge.

If you're from anywhere except the North you're probably loving the snow and the snow days. I get it. It's exciting when you see snow for the first time. It's a novelty and you just want to enjoy it.

Anyone who grew up with snow, however, is waiting for this never-ending winter to give way to warmer spring days. Snow is not exciting after all these years. It is a cold, inconvenient, unwelcome visitor.

I appreciate a good day off from school just as much as anyone else, but here's the thing: New York is prepared for snow. We know snow. It doesn't scare us. The snow plows and street cleaners have been prepared since September.

With that in mind, you must understand that in order for schools to be closing in New York, there has to be a significant amount of snow. If it's not at least half a foot don't even think about skipping your homework and banking on a snow day.

In warmer states, even an inch can make things come to a crashing halt. So yes, getting a little snow is awesome. It's not frequent, it's not drastic, and it's a free day of relaxation.

In colder, northern states, snow days means severe weather alert. They mean you're not going outside unless you're desperate. They mean your shoes will be wet for days once the white stuff begins to melt into dirty slush.

That fact that there is enough snow coming down to close New York schools in March means winter was not messing around this year. Let that settle into your brain - there are 12+ inches of snow covering the city as I type this. In the last week of March.

To reiterate: IT IS SPRING. I want flowers and sunshine and I'll even take rain!

Please, just please, let this winter end already.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
