A New Yorker's Guide For The Snow

No, I personally didn't get snow. Yes, I am upset about it.

I'm a winter girl. That's all there is to it. I very much dislike the beach and I very much love the snow. Despite this, I still went to college in Florida, one of the few places without any snow right now.

While I am sad to miss out, I thought I'd give some great ideas to do with the snow, especially for those who've never experienced it before! Thus, my snow survival and enjoyment guide begin.

1. Prepare For The Cold

You need to put on heavy layers of clothes if you plan on being outside in the snow for a while. You'll need the basics: coats, sweaters, pants, gloves, boots, of course. Something important when dressing yourself that can be forgotten is a good pair of socks. Trust me, socks will save you.

2. Make A Snowman

It's corny. It's cheesy. I know, but people talk about them all the time for a reason. They're fun to make, and it's even more fun to see your new snowy friend outside days later when you look out the window.

3. Make Snow Angels

I absolutely love snow angels. You just lay back, move your arms and legs around a little while, and presto, you got it. It's just nice to stare at the sky for a little while and breathe in the fresh, cold air as well. Only down side is that you will get cold faster than normal so enjoy it before the cold seeps in!

4. Find A Good Place To Go Sledding

Choosing a good place to go sledding is essential if you want to partake in the fun activity. It should have a good hill, a good amount of snow, and not near a street. Great places to look are any local parks! So grab your board if you have, and go!

5. Have Something Hot Ready For When You Come In

The shock between being outside in the cold for a while and coming inside to your warm house is always hard to deal with. Something that always helps is having something nice and warm. Personally, I drink hot chocolate, but anything warm would do, like soup!

Now, get out there and enjoy the cold!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
