It's that time of year where everyone decides that it's time to reinvent themselves. When the clock strikes midnight and we change over into a new year, people want to become better versions of themselves. This is awesome in theory, but like most things it never actually works.
Please don't call me a cynic or a pessimist. You know that I'm right. Think about it- every year you say "I'm going to lose weight" or "I'm going to get a 4.0." But by February you've given up and by November you can't even remember what your resolution even was.
I think that the problem is that we make our resolutions too unrealistic so that when we fail, we're less disappointed.
If we make our resolutions things like "to make an effort to do more things for me" or "to study more," they will be so much more attainable.
Trying to change your life 180 degrees at the stroke of midnight is just not going to work and we all know that. But trying to make small postiive changes that are actually things that you know you can do, is what's going to make all the difference.
And hey, why wait until January 1st to make these changes, start any day!
