I am going to make the most out of 2018, starting with this list.

New Year, New Me, And New Resolutions I Will Accomplish
Danni Messina

“New year new me,” I say to myself.

Yeah, right.

Every year, I write down New Year's resolutions, and most years (not all, just being realistic here), I do get them done. Last year, I wrote them down on a napkin. This is a new year.

Well, this is the year I plan to get all of them done, and more. Because I figure, if I put them down on the internet, it might (hopefully) hold me to what I want to do…maybe?

Last year's goals:

  1. Forget 2016 - completed
  2. Love hard - completed
  3. Get better grades - completed
  4. Work hard & look ahead for my future - completed
  5. Smile more - completed
  6. Go to the gym 4 times/week – ehh, somewhat completed

So, here we go. This is the year of 2018. What will I accomplish?

Here are my goals, broken down into different categories.

Physical:

  • Remain healthy
  • Eat at least 3 servings of vegetables per day
  • Go to the gym 3 times per week [at a minimum]
  • Try to get on a consistent sleep schedule
  • When sick, take time off and relax — school work comes after personal health

Academic:

  • Aim for a 3.5 GPA or above
  • Work hard and don’t leave things until the last minute
  • Continue making “to-do, doing, and done” boards to stay organized
  • Keep my planner updated to stay on track with assignments and time management

Work/Career:

  • Find a job that fits with what I would like to do in my future — internship?
  • Always be happy with what I am working on, and if I am not and I can control that, then change it
  • Continue writing and being expressive through the power of words

Personal:

  • Continue being the best self I can be
  • Smile often
  • Do something philanthropic that will spark change, inspiration, and awareness not only in me but in others
  • Excel in my new position as Vice President of Public Relations for Tri Delta — make new changes that will leave a legacy
  • Spread love everywhere I go & celebrate every part of life, big or small

Now, 2018 is the year for change. 2018 is the year I do everything I said on this list and more.

Cheers to the new year, and I cannot wait to see what the future will hold!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
