This year at the Embassy Suites in Portland, the New Venture Championship program is getting some attention.
The New Venture Championship is a business competition for grad school students to present and share their intended business ventures. It is a competition held every Spring, where teams from all over come to present their business ideas.
Founded by the University of Oregon, their mission is to "develop skilled knowledgeable entrepreneurial leaders who are able to present their ideas in concise and thoughtful ways."
What is great about this program is that not only does it shine light on the Lundquist College of Business at the University of Oregon, but the School of Journalism as well. The next question is, "how?"
Well, because the students from Allen Hall Advertising are in charge of the competitions ad campaign. A group of eleven advertising students are given the opportunity of turning $40,000 into a visually interesting ad campaign for the competition. This in turns helps the competition each year to grow and become further set apart from the average business venture competition.
This year the Allen Hall Advetising team had a successful re-wrap and execution of the Elevator Pitch Exhibit in Pioneer Square, getting NVC on the cover of the Bloomberg Business Week, and successfully re-designing the look of the competition.
This year the Business School has a team titled AirFit. AirFit is Oregon MBA's program for aspiring entrepreneurs to competition in hopes of winning the grand prize of $25,000 towards their intended venture. AirFit strives to prevent the horrible layover experienced when flying internationally. They suggest placing gym, and shower facilities in airport terminals, placed behind security.
