The Stages Of Being A Student At A New University As Told By Gifs

Starting at a new school, whether it's a new high school, a transfer to another university, or being a freshman, is a struggle. There are so many new experiences and so many firsts. You have to learn an entirely new place and, while, sure, you may know it like the back of your hand in a few months, right now the only feeling you know is chaos and confusion. In my case, I have picked up and moved back home for a couple of semesters right smack dab in the middle of a school year. Learning my new school has me in a constant state of panic and confusion, but there's hope, right?

It's a new first day! Time to think positive.

New beginnings can be beautiful! The day will be what you make it.

Is it just me or am I already behind, even if it's on the first day?

Giphy

Just being in a new environment is enough to make you feel like you're a million steps behind everyone else.

Any break is welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Giphy

Even going to the bathroom is the most rest you get some days.

It feels like like the first day of kindergarten again. I don't know anyone.

Giphy

I sit alone, I study alone, I eat alone.

When asked how my week is going, I try to stay optimistic.

Giphy

Even though it's a big fat lie.

The first quiz scores are in and, well, could have been worse.

Giphy

There's still the whole semester to make it up, right?

A visitor asked asked for directions and I knew where to send them!

Giphy

Never have I ever felt more of an adrenaline rush.

That parking citation may have put me in the hole.

Giphy

One day you'll get that parking pass (that will make you even more broke).

Slowly but surely, I'm making some casual acquaintances in class.

Giphy

I may only know their name and where they're from so far, but I know friendship when I see it.

Things may have had a rough start, but happiness is in my hands.

Giphy

Even if it is difficult, the key is making the most out of what life hands you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
