Why not spend the week relaxing?

There's one week every year that college students wait to come around. A week that involves pretty much nothing but drinking, drinking, and more drinking. Topped off with a tropical island or country, an overpriced hotel, and a hottie that they've chosen to hook up with all week. You know what it is? It's SPRING BREAK.

Now, I'm all for a week away from school and work. Honestly, we all need it to stay sane at this time in our lives; when our days revolve around essay due dates, project groups, and the struggle of college versus a job and bills. Who doesn't want a break from all of that? From some adult responsibilities! But, what many college students perceive as the "perfect spring break," can be super expensive and also make you more tired than you were to begin with! While drinking and partying are definitely fun, and we all like to let loose, there's also no harm in taking an alternative approach to your spring break this March!

Just because you don't live it up in Mexico or the Bahamas, Florida or on a Caribbean cruise, doesn't mean that you're lame, or that your spring break will be a miserable and boring week. There are so many other adventures to go on during your week off! Hiking, going to the zoo, berry picking, paddle boarding, exploring a cute little historic town and trying out their hella good food spots and breweries, the list goes on!

Not everything you decide to do has to be active, either! Why not spend the week relaxing? Lie by the sea if you live close to the beach, or lie by the pool if you don't feel like going too far! Listen to your fav songs, indulge in a good book, or just listen to the sounds of the great outdoor! And if you feel like mixing it up, why not start with a hike, then set up a hammock by a waterfall and enjoy the sunshine! I did this last year and it was such a lovely way to spend the day! How about using spring break as a time to work on yourself? Maybe take up a hobby? Like yoga, or painting? Running, or cooking? Or my personal favorite; writing! Writing in a journal is a great way to reflect on your past few months and set some goals for yourself in the future! It is also a brilliant way to get your worries, fears, and dreams off your chest and feel refreshed!

And who wouldn't want to feel refreshed, right? Again, while partying and drinking and going on a foreign vacation are all fun and allow you to let your troubles disappear for a week; you could be in trouble of coming back to an even more tired you. Imagine that jet lag and hangover combo while settling back into the real world!

So this spring break, don't feel bad if you didn't book a flight somewhere tropical, and don't have plans to live it up somewhere in Florida. Spring break can also be about some seriously needed me time, time for some serious adventures, and time for some relaxation by the pool!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
