Has there ever been a time when you felt as if the weight of the entire world was on your shoulders and you just could not handle it anymore? Have you ever felt like what you're doing just is not worth the effort anymore? That you're just not good enough? It isn't a good feeling and I can tell you that I have felt that way more times than I can count. With that being said, giving up is definitely not the option that should be taken.
I cannot tell you how many times I have wanted to give up because I felt like I was wasting my time and energy and that I would never be good enough. In fact, just recently I had felt as though I had made a mistake with wanting to be a teacher. I love children and I do want to teach, but I felt this cloud hover over me, making me ask myself if I would even be good enough. If I would even make a difference. What if I really was not meant to be a teacher? All of these thoughts weighed me down and made me contemplate changing my major because I was making a mistake.
After a while, I realized that the mistake would have been giving up on what I really want to do... Giving up on what you enjoy doing and wish to do is the biggest mistake anyone could make. Life throws us curve balls every now and again, making us doubt ourselves and our abilities. We just have to puff out our chests, take the blow, and continue to march onward, proving that you are stronger than you appear and seem.
With that being said, giving up also applies to giving up who you are. There will be times where someone tries to change who you are, someone who'll try and tell you what you should do and how you should do it. Don't let someone else dictate who you are and what you'll do.
Be yourself and do what you want to do, what you enjoy and makes you happy. There is a reason why there are so many people going into the work force and being miserable for the rest of their working lives. It's because they were made to go into something that they really did not wish to do.
I know that giving up and giving in is the easier choice, but in reality, it bares the most negative consequences. If you have strong beliefs in something, or are really passionate about something, end up with the feeling that you're not good enough and never will be, push forward. Never give up on what you believe. Never give up on yourself. The negative and hurtful thoughts will always linger, coming and going during your low and high points, but show the negativity how strong-willed, and even stubborn, you are. Stick with what you believe, what you enjoy and never give up.
