As we all know, Netflix tends to take away all of our favorite movies from time to time. Sometimes, I even struggle with finding something decent to watch. While scrolling through Netflix, we all have those times where we feel as if we haven't heard of a single movie that is listed. This fall, there are more well-known films on Netflix, ranging from Disney movies, comedy, romance, and so on.
1. White Chicks
If you want to laugh after a long day, White Chicks is a classic movie that you have to watch. It is about two FBI agents who have screwed up several times, who have to escort the Wilson sisters, as there is intel that they are going to be kidnapped. After there is a minor car accident, the Wilson sisters get scratches on their faces, and they refuse to attend Labor Day weekend in the Hamptons. Kevin and Marcus, the FBI agents, have to dress up as Brittany and Tiffany Wilson in order to keep their jobs.
2. Grease
If the 1950s is your favorite decade, Grease will be your go-to movie! It is a musical-romantic film which features well-known song that most individuals have probably heard before, one being "Summer Nights." It tells the love story of Sandy and Danny, who both ended up at the same high school after having a summer romance. Although they are part of different cliques and have opposite personalities, this is a romance that is incredible to watch unfold.
3. The Bucket List
Starring two well-known actors, Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, The Bucket List is surely going to make you cry after watching it. It is about the story of Carter Chambers (Freeman) and Edward Cole (Nicholson), who have both been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. After being complete strangers and meeting in the hospital, they venture the world, based on Carter's bucket list of places he wants to visit before he dies. It is a beautiful story about living life to the fullest and never taking a moment for granted.
4. Mean Girls
Just about everyone has watched Mean Girls at least once. Whether you are wearing pink on Wednesdays or not, be sure to watch Mean Girls for some memorable quotes and many laughs! The protagonist is Cady (Lindsay Lohan) who has just moved from Africa to the United States. The most popular clique at school has invited her to join their group, led by Regina George. She comes to hate Regina after she ruins her chances with her crush and creates a plan to backstab her. The rest is history!
5. The Secret Life of Pets
The Secret Life of Pets is a great option if you are looking for a cute, computer-animated film with talking animals! (It makes us wonder if they really can talk, right?) It is based on the story of Max, a Jack Russell terrier who lives in a Manhattan apartment with his owner Katie. He feels threatened after Katie ends up adopting a new dog, named Duke. He is afraid that Duke will get all of the attention. Duke sets out to find his old owner, but Animal Control going after him and Max holds them back multiple times throughout the movie. Inevitably, Max and Duke become friends, even after they were originally rivals.
6. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
A movie that displays the cruelty and tragedy that occurred during the Holocaust, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a memorable film. Although it is not a true story, it will likely break your heart after watching it. It is about an eight-year old boy, Bruno, who's father is a Nazi in Germany. His family moves to the countryside where there is not much to do. One day, when Bruno is playing by a fence, he encounters another young boy named Shmuel. Little does he know that Shmuel is Jewish and is in a concentration camp. They play together by the fence daily, until tragedy strikes.
7. Forrest Gump
Starring Tom Hanks,Forrest Gump is a movie that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. It begins when Forrest meets two strangers on a bench and tells them his life story, where he has first-hand experiences of major events in America, such as the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, the Vietnam War, meeting President Nixon, and so on. Forrest, having had both a physical disability when he was young, as well as low-IQ, has an adventurous life and takes viewers through a wild ride as they learn about the history of the United States.
8. Titanic
An epic yet tragic film, Titanic will give you "feels" for days after watching it. Although it is not based on a true love story, the story is based on the sinking of the actual Titanic ship in 1912. It begins with an elderly woman telling the story of her experience on the Titanic. From very different social classes, the rich and elegant Rose DeWitt Bukater meets a third class passenger on the ship, Jack Dawson. Although Rose is engaged to a snobbish, wealthy man, Cal Hockley, she uncontrollably and irrevocably falls in love with Jack. When the ship begins to sink after hitting an iceberg, they have to make decisions that will change both of their lives forever.
9. Scary Movie 2
Do not let the title of this film fool you: it is not the least bit scary. Rather, it is satirical, as it makes fun of how foolish some horror movies are. Scary Movie 2 is about a group of students who are forced to go to a haunted house that is possessed by a spirit, in order to receive an A in the course. However, they are not aware that there is something fishy about the house until spending the night there. There are strange occurrences that are giggle-worthy and make one question the purpose of horror films.
10. Finding Dory
Being the long-awaited sequel to Finding Nemo (2003),Finding Dory was the opposite of a disappointment. Dory, who suffers from short-term memory loss, remembers her past who her parents are one day out of the blue. She sets out to find them, with the help of Nemo and Marlin. If you are looking for a cute, funny Disney Pixar movie for a rainy day, this is the perfect choice!
