We Need Love Now.

Get off your high horse.

America has shown that people are quicker to hate than to love.

Minorities continue to be slapped in the face by every single person who voted for hate or did not vote against it. As a woman, as a member of the LGBT community, and as a human who believes in respect, I stand with every minority who is being hated. Every minority who is being told that they are not as important as the white and heterosexual men. I stand with everyone who does not have a voice that is heard through the cries of violence and the voice of privilege. I will try to speak with you.

Are you mad at me? Are you mad because you voted for our president elect? Are you mad that I seem to be speaking against you? I'm not speaking against you. I love you. I respect you. However, I do not respect your hatred. I do not respect that you voted for a team that has spoken out against my sexuality and who supports conversion therapy for me. I do not respect that you believe that my body is not my choice. I do not respect that you support xenophobia and you do not recognize the terror that minorities are feeling.

We need love. We are all humans. We are fearing for our life. We fear those who support hate. We are scared to walk down the street. We are scared to write articles like this. We are scared how you view us.

You need love, too. I get that. You need to be shown a love that you're not giving us right now. You need to be shown love that you weren't given. You need to be shown love that you seek when you comment on someone's Facebook post something condensending because the other person is scared for their life.

Yes, I have privilege. I'm white. I am trying to use this privilege to speak on this platform, because people of color are typically not listened to like I am. They need love right now. Tell them that you will be their voice. Tell them that you are a safe space right now. Tell them you love them.

Get off your high horse. You have privilege and if you can't see that, it is because of your privilege. Come down from your high horse and see the terror in our eyes.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
