2019 NBA Draft: Who Got Picked?

Zion? Ja? RJ? Who's building the next dynasty?

53

Let's be honest we've all had a dream at some point, rather it's a game, changing business, education, journalism or playing in a major league sports one day. The date is June, 21st 2019 and a new group of special talents had their dreams come true by being drafted in the 2019 NBA draft. There was history made, some shocking picks, some underrated picks, but nonetheless many, many dreams came true.

1. Zion Williamson heading to New Orleans.

Zion Williamson went as the number one overall pick last night to the New Orleans Pelicans. Williamson had an amazing season as a freshman at Duke University this past year. From the beginning of the basketball season, everyone was talking about him going as the number one pick in the draft. Last night, this came true. Williamson is part of the rebuild in New Orleans, so it will be interesting to see how his rookie season will go. But what's most touching is the interview he did with Maria Taylor after his name was called. Williamson got a little emotional while giving all the credit to his mother. You can watch the interview here.

2. Ja Morant joining the Grizzlies.

Ja Morant of Murray State went as the number two pick to the Memphis Grizzlies. Morant only received one offer coming out of high school, Murray State. Morant lead his team to the Sweet Sixteen this year in the tournament, and became only the ninth player in NCAA history to record three triple-doubles in the tournament. It will be quite a show to see how he fills in Michael Conley's shoes at point guard this season.

3. RJ Barrett brings Spike Lee hope.

Rounding out the top three picks was RJ Barrett, teammate and best friend of Zion Williamson, headed to the Knicks. Originally there was talk about Barrett being the number two pick, but then Ja Morant showed up and made it a hard-to-tell situation about who would be second or third. But Barrett being in New York will be a good thing. He has room to grow his tremendous game even further. He also had an emotional interview with his father and Maria Taylor after hearing his name. You can watch here.

4. Reigning NCAA Champ De'Andre Hunter is going to Atlanta.

De'Andre Hunter is going to the ATL. Hawks got to snag Hunter at the number four pick from the Pelicans via LA Lakers. Hunter won the NCAA Championship this past year at Virginia. Hunter will get to join Trae Young and the young team to hopefully get into rebuild mode after this past NBA season.

5. Darius Garland to be alongside Collin Sexton.

Darius Garland is going to The Land, picked at number five. Garland has excellent ball handles and is quick, which after this season is something that Cleveland desperately needs. But will this work with Collin Sexton? Having the ball most of last season, will Sexton utilize Garland along with other teammates?

6. Cam Reddish joins Young Hawks.

Cam Reddish of Duke is also going to the Atlanta Hawks. Reddish at number 10, makes history with Zion and RJ as the first time Duke has ever had three players picked in the top 10 picks of the draft. Reddish makes an excellent addition to this up and coming Hawks team. He also got a shout out from Pat Maholmes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

7. Rui Hachimura makes history.

Rui Hachimura of Gonzaga makes history by being the third player born in Japan and being drafted, and being the first of those three to be drafted in the first round. He is going to the Wizards and has a chance to make history for Japan, as well as make them proud.

8. Jarrett Culver experiences different climates really quick.

Jarrett Culver of Texas Tech is heading to Minnesota. This past season, Culver lead his team to the NCAA Championship game, where they fell to Virginia. Culver was originally picked by the Suns at number six, then traded to the Timberwolves for Cameron Johnson. Culver will bring life to the TWolves, and maybe potential threat to Andrew Wiggins?

9. Cameron Johnson, get ready for a weather change.

Cameron Johnson of University of North Carolina is heading to the Phoenix Suns. Suns have not been too hot the past few season, being a very young and inexperienced team, but hopefully Johnson can help out this season. Teammate Coby White (drafted by the Bulls) gave him all the love during his press conference after hearing he got drafted.

10. Bol Bol of Oregon picked late.

Bol Bol of Oregon ended up being picked in the second round at number 44, which was a shocker to most. He was drafted by the Miami Heat, then traded to the Denver Nuggets. Bol Bol didn't get to play much last season due to a knee injury. Standing at 7 feet 3 inches, he will be a great Big Man in due time.

11. ASU's Very Own Undrafted.

Luguentz Dort and Zylan Cheatham both went undrafted last night. Fortunately though, both got to sign as undrafted free agents. Dort is going to the Oklahoma City Thunder, while Cheatham will get to join number one overall Zion Williamson in NOLA.

12. And With the 57th Pick...

The New Orleans Pelicans selected Jordan Bone of Tennessee. Bone's family was in the middle of saying some kind words about coming to the watch party and being undrafted, but then suddenly in the middle of the speech his name was called by the New Orleans Pelicans.

13. Carson Edwards at 33

Edwards had a great season at Purdue this year. Houston native helped lead his team to the Elite Eight this year, where they lost to Virginia. Edwards was drafted by the Sixers, but then traded to the Celtics. With Kyrie Irving wanting out of Boston, will Edwards get to step in?

Now, this is just SOME of what happened on draft night. For a full breakdown of the first round, check out this New York Times analysis. There's no telling what will happen this season. Who will be Rookie of The Year? Will a new dynasty be made? We can get a sneak peek, when the Summer League starts Friday, July 5.

I've always been interested in any product that can get me the Jennifer Lopez-esque natural glow. I'm Indian and have medium-toned skin, so getting darker was never really the goal. Rather, I've always looked for a product that would even out my skin tone and cellulite, basically making my legs look Photoshopped.

Now more than ever we're craving that healthy, tan glow most of us only get after spending a week poolside with margarita in hand. We may not be spending an SPF-soaked summer hitting on our local lifeguards. But when we're going on socially-distanced walks outside, taking viral-worthy selfies, or just want to test out the best self-tanners for when you do finally get to show off all the bikinis you binge-purchased through your quarantine boredom, these are the best to ways to glow up, no matter your shade of skin, whether you have uber-sensitive eczema-ridden skin, or just want J-Lo glow, smooth legs.

13 Father's Day Shirts Under $30 To Gift The Dad Wearing The Same Two Every Day In Quarantine

You've been begging him to change it up, and now he won't have a choice.

Let's be honest: most of our dads are wearing the same shirts today that they probably wore while changing our diapers and holding our hands as we learned to walk. Sure, we love them for it. But whether you're quarantined with him wearing the same two shirts on rotation every week, or every time you FaceTime him, you know what he'll be wearing before he answers the phone, he needs to add some new items to his wardrobe rotation.

And you know dads — they'll feel guilted into using practically anything you were to give them. But these shirts are sure-fire ways to get him to switch up his wardrobe, and he'll be more than excited to wear each and every one of them. Plus, most of them are under twenty dollars, so no harm in dropping more than a couple in to your cart and letting Dad have his pick of his favorites.

I Sat Down (Virtually) With Hollis Tuttle To Talk About Coronavirus's Impact On The Wellness Industry

Just because coronavirus has greatly impacted the wellness industry doesn't mean wellness stops.

If you're anything like me, your weekly fitness classes are a huge part of your routine. They keep me fit, healthy, and sane. Honestly, these classes help my mental health stay in tip-top shape just as much as they help my physical health.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, gyms and fitness studios are facing temporary closure. Yes, this means my personal routine is thrown a curveball, but this also means the wellness industry is one of many that is looking at unemployment and hardship. Do I miss my Monday spin class? Of course. But do the wellness professionals whose worlds were flipped upside down have a lot more to overcome than a slight change of routine? Absolutely. Thankfully, if anyone can prove the ultimate flexibility, it's the wellness industry.

My Boyfriend Has Changed Since Quarantine Began, And I Don't Know What To Do

"All he says is 'I love you,' which is great and all but OMG I can't get anything else out of him."

Each week Swoonie B will give her advice on anonymous topics submitted by readers. Want to Ask Swoonie B something related to dating and relationships? Fill out this form here — it's anonymous.

Dear Swoonie B,

My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost a year, which has been the best year of my life (as far as i know). Well we go to different schools and are both very involved in sports and school activities which makes it hard to see each other. During this quarantine it is especially hard. Since we haven't seen each other in over a week things are kind of tense. He won't really talk to me much and I always check in on him to make sure he is doing well and to just see how he is, ya know being a girlfriend. Well apparently that is driving him crazy and I don't understand how. I'm not being controling or clingy, i'm just checking in on him. While this is happening, I also have noticed how he just doesn't really care anymore. I'll leave him paragraphs of sweet love letters to wake up to and I encourage him throughout his day but I just don't get it in return. I love him with all of me and I obviously care about him a lot. Also, I've compared how he talked to me before all of this has happened. He was so sweet and caring, texting me a lot and telling me he loves me and just making sure everything is OK but he doesn't do that anymore. All he says is "I love you," which is great and all but OMG I can't get anything else out of him. He is a little stressed at home with trying to find another job to pay for his car, constantly having to do things for his mom, being responsible for his siblings, and managing school. I know thats a lot but im doing a lot too right now and going through a lot of the same stuff he is but It seems to me he just does not care and i don't know what to do. Please help me or give me some advice on what to say, what not to say, what to do, what not to do. Anything at this point will help. Thank you!

If I had a dollar for every time I heard "these are unprecedented times," I'd be rich. But that's because it's true!

Tower 28

On paper, Amy Liu appears to be one of the most intimidating women in the beauty business. Not only did she launch her beauty marketing career at legendary Smashbox Cosmetics, she went on to lead luxury, high-end brands like Kate Somerville and Josie Maran — just to name a few.

But sitting down to meet Liu for the first time in an underground New York bar over a year ago felt like meeting a friend I'd known since childhood. As she walked into the bar in a chic red dress, it was impossible not to feel her immediate warm presence. When she talks about her history as an entrepreneur (and truly, at heart, she always was one), you don't get the sense that she's selling you anything, though with her impeccable taste, I'd use anything that had her glowing review attached to it.
