Music that moves the soul is one of many ways to describe the maturing sound of Future Thieves. With the release of Live at Bluerock and, more recently, Sucker, the band has been growing in fame and quality.
Recently, Future Thieves a show in Nashville at the historic 3rd & Lindsley. I arrived at the venue with excitement to see Future Thieves play yet another amazing show. As I sat waiting for the show to start, Austin McCool, the guitarist with a last name that describes his personality, approached me.
We reminisced over our lives the past several months catching up. I also learned more about the band's latest music video, Sucker. It was recorded in the Brentwood Skate Center, in Tennessee. There were many bruises formed with each fall everyone had during and after the recording.
This conversation says a lot about how much the band loves each of their families, friends, and fans. The heart of Austin McCool and the rest of the band has brought them far in their careers. After our conversation, I walked to the stage inside a packed room.
The first act for the evening was one of Nashville's most creative songwriters, Guthrie Brown. Future Thieves had Guthrie for their Christmas show at 12th & Porter, and believed in him to produce another amazing show. If the crowds roar after songs like Natural was an indicator of Guthrie's performance, I could not wait to see how people would react to Future Thieves.
The room was dark, the band stood still in place, and the drummer, Gianni Gibson, followed with the beginning of a song. Lights began to strobe as the lead singer Elliot Collett stepped up to the microphone displaying the full range of his singing ability. Each person in the room cheered with excitement on not only the first song, but every song that followed, especially Horizon Lines and Ghosts.
Elliot Collett, Austin McCool, Nick Goss, and Gianni Gibson rocked 3rd & Lindsley. Each song was crafted and practiced to perfection along with a breathtaking performance.
To conclude, Future Thieves continues to be a kick-ass band with an ever expanding base of songs, fans, and experience. The band only has ladders to climb up from this point, as failure is not possible for Future Thieves.
