My Odyssey Adventure Thank You Note

I am a writer, I love words and phrases and the way sentences flow. When I began at Huntington University, I came in with a degree choice in public relations with a minor in journalism. With this, I imagined I would get a chance to write what I wanted to talk about, the important moments in my life and in the world around me, but later realized with this minor I was only able to write what I was forced to think, and this wasn't my life. With this information, I gave up the minor and chose the life of writing in my dorm and never sharing it. In a phrase, my dreams were dead.

Fast forward to April of 2016; I have been working on my novel for two years, my dreams of being a writer have died and I have picked up a minor in broadcasting.

I had never heard of Odyssey or what it provided to those involved. I received an email regarding news that my writings had been looked over and I was being asked to join the Huntington section of the Odyssey team. With this offer came three questions: one, what is this; two, can my schedule handle another time consuming task; three, do I have to write about certain topics or is it free writing? After all of these questions were answered, I was informed that this was my dream, an ability to write freely, live my life without time strain, and I am able to connect with people all over the world. This was my chance.

After very little thought, if I am totally honest, I took the opportunity. But then a whole new quest entered my mind: what am I to write about? I decided my first article would be about the things I felt would be relatable and also showed my love of the television show "The Office," so I wrote 5 Steps of Recovering From A Long-Term Relationship As Told By 'The Office.' After it was submitted, I waited, and waited, and waited to see if it would be published, and after a few days, I received an email being told it had been. I couldn't believe my eyes; my work was being published for the world to see, and it was a story I wanted to write. I was proud.

Fast forward to July of 2016; I am the editor in chief of the Huntington, Indiana, section, have written and published 16 articles and made some amazing friends.

This article is entitled "My Odyssey Adventure," and it has been just that, an adventure. It is the highlight of my life, and I look forward to every week I write. I am so thankful for this opportunity, and I thank you for all for reading my articles each week. This is my dream that I get to live, and I am overwhelmed with delight. Thank you again.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
