My New Years' Resolutions

Let's see if these stick.

It’s a brand new year! And everyone always likes to go into the new year with new resolutions. Sometimes these resolutions stick, but a lot of the times people can’t even keep their resolutions for a month. Personally, each year I like to create a list of a few resolutions in hopes that maybe one or two of them will actually stick. This year in addition to a list of a few resolutions, I am also going to make my resolutions public. Hopefully social media will be successful in keeping me accountable.

1. Embrace imperfection.

I’m very good at being imperfect, but I usually do my best to cover up just how imperfect I am. I like for people to see the good in me, but I want to hide the not-so-good. This year, my resolution is to not be ashamed of the times when I am less than perfect. I want to feel comfortable to share my imperfections. (P.S. If this wasn’t one of your resolutions for this year, maybe this Ryan Gosling meme will change your mind…)

2. Be more adult-y.

Sometimes, I feel that I know very little about what I actually need to do to become an “adult.” My resolution for this year is to figure out what it is that I need to do in order to feel like more of an adult. And me feeling like an adult will help me to believe that I really am one!

3. Test out bullet journaling.

This is something that I’ve been pinning on Pinterest for YEARS. I’ve decided that this year I am actually going to try it out. If it works for me (which I have a feeling it will), I’ll keep with it. If it doesn’t work for me, I can give it up without breaking my resolution. My goal is to make organization pretty and fun!

4. Eat more fruits and vegetables.

I’m just really bad at doing this, so I’ve decided it’s time I make more conscious decisions about what I put into my body. It’s probably going to be hard and gross at first, but it’ll pay off in the long run.

5. Consistently run.

I started running consistently in the fall, and really started to enjoy it. But now that it’s cold outside, I’ve been finding it harder and harder to get out of bed and get outside to run. I’m going to do my best to push through anyways!

6. Also, consistently work out.

In addition to running, I’d like to add little workouts here and there. I don’t have crossfit or anything like that in my sights, but I think this is an important resolution for a healthy lifestyle.

So now that you know all of my resolutions, maybe you’ll help keep me accountable and encourage me to keep them. And I hope that whatever resolutions you might have going into this new year, you will find the motivation to keep them and enjoy them. Happy New Year!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
