In January I was scrolling on Instagram and saw a post but Sadie Robertson and in that post, she explained that every year she would choose a different word to base the year off of and would try to incorporate that word into her life. I thought that that was a pretty cool idea and decided to try it for myself.
I wanted to make sure I chose the right words so instead of pondering over what word or words I would use, I prayed about it and waited. As I was doing my devotion, the word uncomfortable came to mind and I knew that was one of the words. A couple of days later, I was at church and the word closer came to mind. I waited patiently and God gave me two words: Uncomfortable and Closer. I did not expect either of these two words, but I was super excited about them because they are bold words and have a lot of meaning behind them. I was and still am interested to see how these two words will impact me.
The way I perceived uncomfortable was to place myself in situations that remove from my comfort zone and grow me as a person. The way I perceived closer was to do things that will strengthen my faith and bring me closer to God.
For the year of 2019, I'm going to focus on both being out of my comfort zone and growing closer in my faith. I think choosing one or more words to base your year off of is a great way to grow and become more of who you want to be. It sets up your year to be one you learn from. The words don't necessarily have to be religiously or of any specific type, just words that mean something to you.
