Last year, Tayor Swift came back and yes she is the same old Taylor Swift, but with a new sound and same old obsessions. When her album came out, I listened to the album before purchasing it, and it was the best decision I have made.
I have to say this album is one of her more successful ones in her career. As much as I love all of her songs, it was a hard decision deciding on my top five from this album. Here are my top five songs from the 'Reputation' album:
1. Dancing With Our Hands Tied
Out of all of her songs in the 'Reputation' album, this one is my all-time favorite song. This song is the perfect pop song. It starts off with a slow wave you see from very far away that slowly approaches the beach, but suddenly it is incredibly close, and it hits you.
It is one of those songs that you do not want to sing along to, but you recognize straight away the feeling it is hiding in the water. At one point, we all have been loving someone in secret before, and that it what, I felt exactly like dancing with them with our hands tied.
Favorite line: My love have been frozen, deep blue put you painted me gold.
2. King Of My Heart
This particular song is an anthem to me! It expresses what happens when you are finally free, happy, and when you love yourself deeply even when you are single. That is the exact moment when true love comes around. The One.
This song has an Alice in Wonderland vibe, and this song is the male version of Wonderland's Queen queen. Many would also say that this is a sequel to Blank Space. This song is one of the few that I can listen to and picture the music video to this in my head.
Favorite line: Changed my priorities, the taste of your lips is my idea of luxury.
3. End Game (Featuring Ed Sheeran and Future)
The trio collaboration on this song is brilliant. I would not have ever thought that bringing Ed Sheeran and Future into this song would happen, but it was genius! It sounds like nothing I have ever heard of before.
The lyrics float all perfectly into the song and their three voices match together smoothly and in the right way. 'Reputation' sounds more majestic than ever in this specific tune and the game is strong. We all always wanted to be first but how good is it to be their last?
Favorite line: I swear I don't love the drama, it loves me.
4. Call It What You Want
Another great song from Taylor Swift. I think this is the real change, the real victory. Not hiding once again being someone we are not. It is about being happy, being in love, and not labeling anything. It is about being your true self, being full along, and not needing saving but company.
This song shows this is what a real, healthy, and enjoyable relationship should sound like. Those people did not complete your circle, you did it on your own, and they just ran away with you.
Favorite line: You don't need to save me, but would you run away with me?
5. I Did Something Bad
In this song, Taylor is trying to be more empowered than she has ever been. She claims that she has done something very bad but yet it feels very good. She asks questions to herself, makes strong threads, and keeps on blaming stuff on other people and not on her self.
It sounds good so we pretend not to hear her properly. It is a cool tune, probably one of the coolest ones of the whole album. It will make you kill that workout that you have been postponing for ages.
Favorite line: They burning all of the witches even if you ain't one.
