Lately, I have been on the biggest Fleetwood Mac kick. I always adore their stuff, they are timeless in every way; however, as of recently, it seems to be all I listen to. Maybe it's a sign I need to get some ticket to the Fleetwood Mac Farewell 2018 Tour? (hint hint, birthday present, dad). While most of my favorites listed are from their second best selling album, "Rumors," here are a few of my favorite songs that never go out of style:
1. "Rhiannon"
So Nicks wrote this originally after reading a book about an Old Welsh witch who was being possessed by a spirit of a woman. Although I don't exactly feel like I am possessed by a witch after hearing this song, "Rhiannon" makes me want to dance around my room and be possessed by my inner party girl.
2. "Go Your Own Way"
What's a playlist without a good "F off" break-up song? This song was written by Lindsey Buckingham basically telling Stevie she can leave and not come back. Pretty sure it was mostly out of spite since he was head over heels in love with her.
Cue the lyrics,
"Baby I'd give you my world.Open up Everything's waiting for you"
(Heartbreaking stuff.)
But what can you expect dating a member of your band? Still "Go your Own Way" is the perfect, bitter break up song to jam out to.
3. "You Make Loving You Easy"
Still off the album, "Rumors," here is to the happier side of love. A perfect accompaniment when you start to fall hopelessly in love with someone. Trusting miracles, believing in magic and having the feeling of love following you wherever you go makes you believe that love truly exists in this groovy, little tune.
Check out this really great cover of the song:
4."Dreams"
An absolute classic about all the lies and manipulation in a relationship. This song Nicks wrote about Buckingham, which is as blunt as can be. But hey, that's the way you have to roll sometimes to get the point across. This song puts all the players, liars and selfish behaviors to shame. Stevie speaks the truth:
My personal favorite song. This melodic song makes you feel like you want to dance freely and accept yourself for who you truly are. It is the perfect song to listen to when you lost track of who you are. This song makes you want to take chances, chase your dreams and believe in your true self.
Here is one of my favorite live versions, especially because of what Stevie says before the song :
