Everyone loves a good Disney movie! I grew up on them and still enjoy watching them! Here are my 15 absolute favorite Disney movies (in no particular order):
1. Saving Mr. Banks
This is almost too serious to be a Disney movie but I love it so much! The storyline is really interesting and emotional. What's also cool is that Tom Hanks is the spitting image of Walt Disney. It's a heartfelt tearjerker for sure!
2. Cinderella
I know, I know. How cliche. But Cinderella will always be my favorite princess! She is so kind to every person and animal and she has a work ethic like no other - even when she's treated like dirt! And I just love all those cute little mice and birds! Remember Jaq and Gus?!
3. National Treasures 1 & 2
Okay, kinda didn't know these were Disney's doing, actually! These are awesome! I love history and even though they aren't really accurate, they are so interesting and keep you on the edge of your seat!
4. High School Musicals 1, 2 & 3
... but not Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure or whatever that was. Nope. This series summed up a big chunk of my childhood. I was completely in love. The music and characters were great no matter what anyone says!
5. Inside Out
This movie is so cute! How do those Disney people come up with this stuff?! There's a whole intricate world created. I enjoy all the plays on words and how they made intangible things like a "train of thought" or memories come to life. (And the music is awesome!)
6. The Parent Trap
(I'm talking about the one with the Lindsay Lohans.) This was a movie constantly in the VCR. (Yep - one of those old things!) It is such a fun movie!
7. Frozen
Yep, gotta let it go and throw this one in here, too. Love the music, the plot twist, that relatable Anna, elegant Elsa, and kind Kristoff.
8. Eloise at Christmas Time
This is one that really gets overlooked! It's such a great movie even when it's nowhere near Christmas time. Eloise is so spunky and funny! And there's such an adorable love story, too!
9. Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience
It was so worth the overpriced movie theater ticket to see my boys on the big screen! Even more than High School Musical, the Jonas Brothers stole a huge chunk of my life! I thought I would never hear greater music than theirs. I was completely enthralled with them (but one of them more than the other two... we all had a favorite, right?!) Being that close to them (even though the 3D was kinda a rip-off) and hearing all their music made my year.
10. Camp Rock 1 & 2
The Jonas Brothers were the stars, so of course this made the list! Demi Lovato was a favorite of mine, too. The music in both movies was so catchy and fun!
11. Wreck-It Ralph
Again with those creative Disney people! The video game world was such a cool idea to work with! Having characters move from game to game through the outlet was genius! I'm really starting to believe that's what actually goes on in an arcade!
12. The Princess Diaries 1 & 2
Anne Hathaway will always be Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo to me! She was so real and funny but also so elegant and kind. And Julie Andrews was an awesome queen and grandma! Throw in Chris Pine in the 2nd one, and I'm a fan for life! :)
13. Tangled
This whole movie is beautiful. It's just something about all the colors and the music that really gets me. ("I See the Light" especially - those harmonies! AHHH!!) Or maybe it's the suave and handsome Flynn Ryder. This movie will never get old.
14. Robin Hood
(I'm talking the animated foxes and bears and lions one!) While I have watched the previous 13 movies a lot, it's definitely this one that had the most time in the VCR when I was little. This movie is amazing! I was completely mesmerized as a kid. Still to this day I want a love story like Robin Hood and Maid Marian.
15. UP
I saved my all-time, best there's ever going to be Disney movie for last (so maybe there was kinda a particular order to this list...). UP is such a feel-good film. It's able to reach people of all ages and that is such a cool thing! It has humor with Dug and Kevin, sweet emotions of joy with Russell, and complicated emotions of grief with Carl. There are so many takeaways. The music is incredible and Carl and Ellie's love is sweetly genuine.
Disney movies will always have a special place in my heart. Even though the stories are mostly made up and sometimes the characters on the screen aren't even real, I have been impacted by each one I watch. I've been inspired by stories of love and family and kindness. I have gotten so much joy from singing and dancing along with the catchy music. I've seen the importance of perseverance and dreaming big. I don't think we're ever too old for one! So go ahead and find your favorites!
