Reading has shaped my life drastically. Its instilled a passion in me that now calls me to the publishing career. These are just some of the books that gave me the passion I have today.

The Twilight series by Stephenie Myer

VarageSale.com

Sorry y'all I had to do it. Twilight was my first true love when it came to books.

Stargirl and Love, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

Pintrest

Stargirl was honestly the book that got me into reading. It's your typical story about a boy who falls in love with a new girl, who is abnormal, to say the least. Love, Stargirl continues the story from Stargirl's point of view after the events of Stargirl. It's definitely written for children, but you can pick up this book at any age.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Walmart.com

The Divergent series had so much potential, but the rest of the books are lackluster compared to the first. This book is a water-downed version of Brave New World, but it's still as enjoyable as it's inspiration.

The Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoff

Reloveplanet on Blogspot

Anyone who goes to Temple has most likely/will read the Dao De Jing (or Tao Te Ching, depending on your professor). These books reimagine the story of Daoism in an easier way to read for those who think the concepts are so foreign. Plus, Pooh and Piglet are adorable in these stories.

Fire and Blood by George R.R. Martin

Amazon.com

This is the only Game of Thrones book I could bring myself to complete. It tells the story of the Targaryen family from just before their arrival to Westeros to 150 prior to the main story. It is the first part of a 2 part collection, with the next part coming within the next year or two, finishing off with Aerys Targaryen II, aka the Mad King.

Animal Farm by George Orwell

Ebay.com

Honestly, I can't even put into words how much I like this book. It's a book that tells the story of communism, but through farm animals starting a coupe and taking over the farm. Enough said.

Anything by John Green

Amazon.com

If I ever need a good cry, John Green has never failed me. His books never fail to tell complex and deep stories in a simple way that people of any age can enjoy.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Wikipedia.com

From the style, the book was written (you are receiving letters from an old friend, "Charlie"), to the deep, gut-wrenching, story he tells, The Perks of Being a Wallflower truly hits strong and fast. For those of us who had older friends in high school, this story reminds us of what it felt like to let those friends go.

The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan

Costco Wholesale

Summer 2019 I decided to go back and read something I missed out on as a child. I stumbled on the Percy Jackson series in a thrift store, I think I got the first and third books. I read the first book in about 4 hours, then rushed to get the rest. I haven't felt the need to finish a series so fast since...

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

World Media Incorporated

Honestly, words cannot even begin to etch the surface of what this book means to me. It was instrumental to my childhood and taught many lifelong lessons. Honestly, if you haven't read this series, what are you doing with life?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
