Don't let his age fool you!

Things my 3-year-old says and does to surprise and entertain

Brennan, my 3-year-old son, is very smart for his age and the things he does always keep me entertained and surprised. Every day something new comes out of his mouth, or he says something too grown-up for his little self.

1. "Google it"

Yesterday on the way to renew his Daddy's license we were debating on the route to take; follow GPS or go the way we knew to get to this particular town. From the backseat Brennan chimes in "You can go on google and find another way, Daddy." I guess we talk about Google more than I thought we did.

2. He knows left from right.

While driving the car he likes to navigate and he has learned our town quickly. He can almost tell me how to get to the grocery store. Brennan knows when we take a right turn or a left one.

3. He's always listening.

It's hard to talk about any sort of reward for him when he automatically knows exactly what we are talking about. I can't play dumb because he will call me out on it.

4. He talks like he's an adult.

Brennan can carry his own in an adult conversation. There is no baby talk around him and I guess that gives him the ability to understand the things that his dad and I say. His responses usually fit the conversation.

5. He's a lady's man

At 3 years old and a whopping 38 pounds he's already a charmer. Brennan can charm any lady he meets. whether it be something he says or something he does most women he meets are like "Oh my god, he's adorable!" Trust me, he knows that he's adorable and uses it to his advantage.

6. He would rather be with the Babysitter.

Brennan sees enough of his Dad and me that we decide to go out he can't wait for us to leave. Earlier this week the sitter was over and he told me, "Mom you can go now. Jasmine is here."

7. Bath time is a must!

Every day he asks me for a bath. Most 3-year-olds fight when it comes to bath time, not this one. I guess Brennan gets the love of water from me. I love to swim.

8. His temper is adorable.

It's hard to be serious with him when he is so cute when he gets made. He will cross his arms and stomp his foot while huffing. I still can't look at him when he does it. It's too cute, I laugh.

9. His YouTube knowledge

Brennan loves watching YouTube, his biggest enjoyment is watching trains. His latest obsession though has been Transformers. Bumblebee, the movie comes out this Christmas and he can't wait.

I can set him up to watch a certain video and five minutes later he's found something else that has caught his attention. It amazes me how quickly he picked up the ability to navigate YouTube.

Some days he drives me crazy and other days he's a little angel. Brennan is the center of my heart and I wouldn't change being his mom for anything in the world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
