Being part of a sorority is nothing like the stereotypical ideals that people know of from movies and far-fetched stories. I used to be apprehensive about joining a sorority, thinking I would not be accepted for who I really am, but I had no idea what the future really had in store for me. I have learned so much about myself and others in ways that I never would have if I hadn't joined a sorority. Now I am finally so proud to say that I am a sister of Alpha Beta Psi.

I didn't know much about Alpha Beta Psi, but I knew I wanted to give myself a chance to open up to new opportunities and people that I never had before. Once I met with some of my future sisters, I immediately felt calm with no underlying judgment beneath the surface. I never felt like I had to put up any walls or pretend to be anything other than the true me. I have been accepted and loved for everything I am, craziness and all.

As time went by, my sisters opened up to me too. Sometimes my sisters understand my weird sense of humor or also like some of the Marvel movies and TV shows that I love. We have all shared different views and ideas, and they have united us to understand each other. With that in mind, I have found that my sisters and I come together as peaceful women headed towards a bright future for our sorority. I know that we aren't as large as some of the sororities you see in movies, but make no mistake when I say that we are women on the rise!

I know my sisters genuinely have my back in the best and worst of times because that is the nature of real sisterhood. Alpha Beta Psi is a sisterhood that believes in accepting others for who they are, and I am thankful for the chance to be a part of the successful future we're headed towards. I have learned so much in such a short time, and the journey is just beginning. My sisters have helped me open up to the world because each sister accepts one another for who they truly are. The future is looking up for all of us, and I will be a proud sister of ABY until I die!
