A lot of YouTubers and bloggers I follow do monthly favorites videos. I love watching them. Seeing the different things that they like makes me want to try a lot of new things. In the month of September, I have been very adventurous and tried lots of new things and I want to share them with you.
Book: Cleopatra and Rome
I stumbled on this book while I was doing research for my costume history project. The project requires me to write a diary entry of a person in a certain historical period with a detailed description of the costume they were wearing. I chose Julius Caesar as my person because I love classical studies and I have had a bit of a prior knowledge of this period. I decided that Caesar’s diary is going to be on his last day and during that period Cleopatra is living in Rome. For the sake of accuracy, I looked up books about Cleopatra in the Library and came across this book. It talks about Cleopatra and her relationships with Caesar, Mark Anthony, and Octavius. I haven’t finished it yet, I just started but I like it a lot so far.
Play: She Kills Monster
i have been working on this play for two months. We opened two weeks ago in the university theater and we just finished this weekend. It was a truly amazing experience being in this play. It’s funny, it’s moving. It talks about love and friendship, identity, magic. I learned a lot from this play. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t watch it. It’s a heartwarming experience.
Podcast: The Hilarious World of Depression
This is a podcast that talks about depression and comedians who deal with depression. It’s very insightful and educational. I like it a lot. WE really should raise awareness about depression. The topic is usually left undiscussed and people with depression don't really mention it either.
Musical Soundtrack: Avenue Q
I know this is not a new musical anymore but I am just now getting around to listen to it and I love it. It is funny and lighthearted and I am just very happy when I listen to it.
TV Show: White Collar
I love crime shows and my friends have been recommending White Collar to me and I finally started watching it. I am currently on season 5 and there are only 6 seasons. I love it, Neal Caffrey is smart, charismatic, good looking and fun. What more can you ask of a guy? Peter and Elizabeth are the cutest couple. I mean, the character work in this show is fantastic. They are just so lovable.
Cartoon: Bojack Horseman
It’s great, it’s ridiculous, I love it.
Just a disclaimer that these are the product that I have tried and loved in the month of September. This part is not sponsored (I wish it is but it isn’t). I have sensitive, not very oily skin I also don’t break out a lot. Most of the products I tried are for all skin types but still do your research before you get them. everyone has different skin type and skin reaction to different things.
Face wash: Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
It’s a light facewash and smells like cucumber and roses. It is a gentle formula that cleanses your skin well. It is a light formula and it does remove some makeup but not heavy makeup. There is no tightness after I use it. I recommend it for people who have sensitive skin and is not counting on the facewash to remove makeup.
Toner: Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-free Toner
I wanted to try this toner for the longest time and I finally bought it two weeks ago. It is alcohol-free so it’s great for my sensitive skin. I use it twice every day after I wash my face with the soy face wash. I keep it in the fridge so it has a cooling effect when I apply the toner to my face. It soothes and calms my skin. My face is so soft after I use it.
Peppermint Tea
You girl here loves tea. I was sick for a week during September and all I drank was peppermint tea. It is so good, so soothing. I love it.
Lays chips: Fried Green Tomato
It’s just really good. I can’t tell you why I like it I just do.
