No matter what mall or shopping center I go to, if there is an Apple store, it will always be full of people.
It doesn’t matter what time of day or day of the week it is, there will always be a bunch of people at least interested in Apple’s products. I see it as one small drop in the bucket of the amount of support they get and global status that they have.
I guess all of the issues that I have with Apple as a technology company is that for all the money in the world, they still are pretty cheap. There is no good reason to sell your phones without charging cables or completely change the design of those cables in between phones so they can’t be used on any other model.
A company that is seen as one of the biggest modern status symbols has to use a bunch of nickel and dime-ing business methods to squeeze out a few more pennies.
Another problem is the whole architecture that they have across their platforms. If you use only Apple products and have a stable internet connection all the time and have the luck to not have anything break, then I would say that Apple is at least a good, user-friendly experience.
However, obviously that is not the case and plenty of problems stem from how it is all set up.
If an Apple product breaks, there is basically nothing else to do besides getting a brand new one, hopefully just from a simple trade in and not from putting another few hundred dollars down just to get it. The hardware is all sleekly designed, but does not have any obvious way to break into the machine, and the software is as organized and friendly as most iTunes libraries.
The real sticking point that I have against Apple in recent memory is with Airplay. Last semester I had a class that had to give short presentations. There was about 25 of us and the majority of the room had iMacs. The building we were in is pretty old, but it still can connect to individual laptops via Airplay.
What do you know, but nearly every person that had to connect had issues and the whole process probably took double the time just because the one program could not consistently work. The last guy that went even made a joke about it.
It is not to say there are not some serious problems that Windows is plagued with and will probably continue to decline. I know when I have a bunch of problems with Windows, I wish things would be simpler and just work. However, it doesn’t look like that will ever happen with most technology, and I can fix the problems with Windows at least if there is a problem.
