This election year was hard for all of us. Our nation, her occupants, the candidates; we’ve all felt at some point that the weight of the world is on our shoulders. And we’ve all gotten really great at voicing our different opinions. But here’s the thing: someone will win. Maybe it will be who you voted for, and maybe it won’t. Either way, someone will come out of this as the newest President of the United States of America. And when that happens, the real work begins. The morning of November ninth, we all have two choices: complain about the new chief of our country, or start praying- and praying hard.

To the American People; I am not naive. I know that these next four year will be difficult, no matter the result of this election. But I pray that we have faith. America has survived much, much more than this divisive election. This is not the worst we have faced, and is not the worst that we will face. I pray that we all recognize how incredibly blessed we are, and thank the Lord for the blessings we experience each day. My hope for this nation is that we see beyond this race, and look towards the end goal. God’s plan is way beyond our comprehension, and I pray that we have the ability to accept that. I pray for peace over a broken world, a broken nation, and her citizens. I pray for hope, patience, acceptance, and most importantly, I pray for peace.
And to the President; I hope that God uses you for the betterment of our nation as a whole. I pray that you unify, and do not divide. I pray that you think of my parent’s generation, my generation, and my future children’s generations before you make decisions. I hope that you fully understand the responsibility that you have taken on, and that the Lord might guide you through it. I pray that your actions be free of malice or hate, and that your choices be selfless. I pray you act with humility and that God might use your position to bring this country together. And I pray that you represent the people of this great nation to the absolute best of your ability.
I pray that I am able to accept the verdict with maturity, and I pray you do that same. This election is a pivotal time in our great nation’s history, and I pray that we come out of this with a newfound attitude of patience and respect. So I’ll be praying for America, and I humbly ask that you do the same.
