For some time now I've been working on myself. My sophomore year of college was long and stressful. By the end of it, I was going through the motions. Class, homework, work, repeat. My only goal was to make it through the week.
Looking back, I can see that I wasn't really living my life to the fullest. I'm not talking about going out to parties or getting blasted with my friends. I'm talking about preparing for the rest of my life.
I recently turned 21 and adulthood is right around the corner. So what do I do to prepare? (Seriously, I'm asking!)
I want to start living my life to build my future. I'm a junior in college who has no idea what I want to do for the rest of my life.
This year my goal is to set goals. Realistic goals like saving up for a new car, declaring my minor, searching for internships, updating my resume, searching for future career opportunities.
Everything I'm doing now is for my future. It will have an impact whether I'm looking ahead or just going through the motions. Someone once told me it's all about who you know. I want to meet new people and build a social network that will benefit my future.
Adulthood is scary, and I think we all try to put it off for as long as we can. But the time is now, at least for me.
This year I have so much to look forward to. I'm celebrating one year spent with my boyfriend, I am the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding, and I will be entering my senior year of college.
2018 will be a year of joy, love, and success. It's time to open my eyes to opportunities and new possibilities.
Now is the time for self-empowerment.
Now is the time to discover my capabilities to the fullest.
