My Name Is What? My Name Is Who?

My name is Kerrigan Brianne Arnold, and yes I'm referencing Eminem.

I always hate writing about myself because I feel like I’m in one of those situations where someone says, “Okay, now tell us your name and one interesting fact about yourself.” Every single time that happens, I instantly go blank and usually tell the most uninteresting thing about myself like, “Well, my name is Kerrigan and I really enjoy reading.” Wow. Groundbreaking stuff right there. Life changing, really. So, I’ll do my best to tell you about myself while making it as riveting as I can.

For starters, my name is Kerrigan Brianne Arnold. I have a second middle name but it’s super weird so I’ll keep that one to myself. I’m from Kimberling City, Missouri, a small town on Table Rock Lake. I’ve lived there my whole life. I graduated from Reeds Spring High School. I went to Crowder College for two years and received my associates in journalism and public relations. I’m now a junior at Missouri State University, majoring in Journalism. I really hope to write for a magazine someday; I love to write about lifestyle and relationships, which is ironic because I’m not good at life nor relationships. Oh well though, right?

I’m a huge New Girl fan. I would marry Nick Miller in a heartbeat. *swoon* I also love the Office, How I Met Your Mother, and Jane the Virgin. Even though I made a joke about it in the beginning of this article, I genuinely do love reading. However, I must admit that I’m all for the cliché teenage romances where the girl gets the guy in the end. I’m not even ashamed about it at this point; I’m a cliché, hopeless romantic and I’ve accepted that.

A few other fun (maybe not fun, but more slightly more interesting) facts about me are that I model for book covers! Mainly indie books so you probably won’t find me at Books-A-Million, but hey, it’s a little cool. I also sing and write music. Disney UK has worked on some of my music before, it never went anywhere but like, it almost did so that counts for something, right? Lastly, I love the big man upstairs. WWJD, am I right? Anyway, that’s all I’ve really got to tell. Oh! I fractured my tailbone when I was 15 because I accidently kicked myself. Yes, you read that right. I fractured my tailbone because I kicked my own butt. How? That’s a story for another time. Anyway, can’t wait to start writing for the Odyssey! Go bears.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
