My Most Dreaded Day Of The Year: Graduation

I'm sure they're going to kill me for this, but I just thought I'd write an ode to my role models while a lot of them graduate this year. As someone who's a Theater Major, I've constantly been surrounded by people of all ages. To me, age is seriously just a number. My freshman year at FDU I found myself clicking with more upperclassmen than people in my grade, and every year since then it remained that way.

I am a sap and like to torture myself, so going to graduation every year is just another day for me. It's one of the most important days in my role models lives, but to me, it's a day where I get to watch my role models realize what they're capable of. I may cry a lot, but being with them on a day where their lives begin is so important to me. SO, I'd like to let them know how much they mean to me and give them a few reminders.

You're not getting rid of me that easily. Through your busy adult lives, you better remember who loves you unconditionally- i.e me. I will always appreciate getting a text letting me know how you're doing, even though I probably stalk you enough to know already what you're up to.

Don't panic. You're right where you're supposed to be, don't ever look back. You're already doing amazing things and I've been proud of you since the day I met you, never forget that.

I will always be there for you. Whether we talk every day, whether you live across the country, or whether we grow apart because our lives get too busy, I will always be there for you. (Whether you like it or not).

GET EXCITED! Be happy for yourself. I find myself constantly yelling at your for leaving, but get excited! You deserve the world, and although I try my best to give it to you, I can only do so much.

I know when this gets published we still have some time together before you're an alum–SO HANG OUT WITH ME. Even if we just sit in a room so I can stare at you a bit would be nice.

I know there's a lot going on in your head, but just remember how much of an impact you've had on the people around you, even if you don't know it. I for one, know how much you mean to me. Whether we're friends forever or our time together is over, just know that I've loved every second of every day I've spent with you. Just in case you haven't cried yet, here's one last thing: "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
