You grew up with it, as your parents brewed this liquid in the morning. As you woke up, you smelled it roaming through the halls and into your room. It was part of your morning routine. Your parents always made jokes about how they needed the liquid to survive getting to work or at least getting through the morning. You always wanted to try it but your parents told you no because it would stunt your growth.
After years of begging, your parents finally caved in a let you take a sip. In that moment, your whole life flashed before your eyes. It was a victory that would go down for ages. You grabbed that warm mug and as the liquid hit your lips, you regretted everything. It tasted disgusting. How could your parents drink that every day? You basically threw it up and vowed from that day forward that you will never take another sip from that terrible drink.
Fast forward to high school, the class load is getting heavier, you are confused on whether or not you should be emo; your main priority is to be cool. All the cool kids wanted to get that liquid you vowed never to drink again but you want to be cool so you are going to do what you need to do. You stumble into the nearest shop and smell that aroma. It smells amazing but you remember that terrible taste. It is stuck in your mind and on your taste buds.
Everyone is ordering and paying and you have no other choice. You buy one and slowly sip it. Hazelnut? It’s not that bad, not the best but you’re able to drink it without wanting to throw it up. It’s another victory for the ages.
Now college, that’s where you lose control. You are staying overnight in the library and need that extra boost to keep you up. You order that drink and slowly sip it. You feel your body shaking and your eyes growing wide. You are blowing through all your work and you feel like nothing could stop you.
Then you crash and your only solution is to go buy another cup. This becomes your routine. Anytime you get a little stressed out you drink that glorious drink and buy at least two or three a day. You need a cup to get through the workload or at least through the morning. You always wondered why you ever hated this drink. You regret all those times you could have drank it but never did. It has become part of your life. Coffee and you are BFFs until the end.
