Poetry On Odyssey: I'm Not Always Genuinely Happy, But I Try To Live Without Regrets

Take a minute to look in the mirror and ask yourself: who are you?

Poetry On Odyssey: I'm Not Always Genuinely Happy, But I Try To Live Without Regrets
Chadwick Hall

Great poets like Tucker Bryant and my personal favorite Rudy Francisco have taught me that one of the greatest arts are truly examining yourself. It took me a lot to digest what that meant, so similar to them I decided to write my own "Honesty Poem." Honestly (pun very much intended), I'm pretty proud of some things I discovered and I encourage anyone to try it and see what you come up with.

My Honesty Poem

My Name's Chadwick Hall

I'm a freshman college student

I'm 6 foot…

Barely…

But I reach the mark and sometimes that's all one can hope for

I was born February 27th of 2000

Some might say that makes me a Pisces

And though I don't necessarily believe in astrology

It's interesting to know that that's why so many find me emotional

To be truthful, I do cry…

A lot more than I care to admit

But not always for myself

I let my tears drown me in someone else's problems

Sometimes helping them cope

Is the only thing that gets me to the shore of my own

To be sure of myself

I was raised on the belief that most problems could be solved with my words

I learned Math faster than my vocabulary could grow

So believe me when I say that ironically things didn't always add up.

I read comic books and to be honest

I feel like I have a superpower sometimes

You ever hear of X-Ray vision?

I'm not that lucky, but it's easy for me to find good in people

I often wonder why they call it outgoing

I'm told I have that quality

But I don't know if it's because I put myself out there

Or if it's because when they hear what goes on in my crazy head…

The first thing to pay attention for is the exit sign

I'm also often told I'm a good listener

But honestly, I get so caught up in the fact that I have to listen

That some bits of detail fall to the wayside

Maybe they like me because I often stay quiet

but I won't give up til' I help find a solution

My family knows that if they have any issues with technology

"Just go to Chad"

"He'll fix it"

I wonder if they know I only learned how

from trying to cover my past mistakes

That and computers are so much simpler than people

You tell it what you want to be done and boom problem solved

That is if you know the right keys

I love musicals

They taught me that you can solve any situation with the right song

So excuse me while I try to find my theme music

Most of all,

I always admire the way they almost always have a happy ending

It gives me hope that things won't end up so bad

I'm a sucker for a humble girl with a beautiful voice

Maybe because once I hear what she's been hiding

I feel like I'm hearing the hidden symphonies of the world

And I have a backstage pass

I'm not always genuine and happy

But I try to live without regrets

Because If I spend a lot of time obsessing on the past

I ruin the chances of fixing my future

I believe that sometimes life can suck

But if even a few people try to be positive and upbuilding

Maybe it won't suck so much.

My Name Is Chadwick Hall

And the same things that make me different and unique

Are differences that make you unique as well

So tell me please,

Who are you?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
