To my future husband,
As little girls, we grow up dreaming of who our future husband will be. If you were like me, questions were constantly running through your mind. Will he be tall? Will he be handsome? Will be a fireman? Will he be a football player? Will he be outgoing? Will he have a good personality? Will he be adventurous? As I have gotten older, questions still continue to run through my head about who my future husband will be and what he will be like. One thing I have learned is that I do not know who my future husband will be, but God does. Today I am writing to my future husband, whoever you are and wherever you are.
- I promise to stand by you, when I stand before God, my family, and my friends on my wedding day and take a vow “to have and to hold until death do us part,” I will mean every word of it.
- I will make sacrifices for you. No matter what we go through, I promise I will sacrifice whatever it takes to make you happy.
- I will pray for you. Not only have I prayed nonstop for you, but know that I will always pray for you.
- “In sickness and health." We usually don’t realize that when we promise this, that sickness often becomes part of our married lives, but I promise to be there with you through whatever comes our way.
- Your supporter through a bad day. Everyone has bad days every now and then. When you have a bad day I will love you through your moods, but you have to promise to love me through mine. Nothing will make me stop loving you to my full capacity
- I pray for you to be a spiritual leader. Growing up my dad always showed our family what it meant to be a spiritual leader of our house. I pray that you will be a spiritual leader not only for me, but also for our family.
- I pray that you love our children. I want our children to feel the love that my parents have always made me feel, so I pray that you love our children and help teach them the love of Christ daily.
- “We’re on each other’s team.” “Marriage is about becoming a team. You’re going to spend the rest of your life learning about each other and every now and then, things blow up. But the beauty of marriage is that if you picked the right person you both love each other, you always figure out a way to get through it.”- Nicholas Sparks
- I pray that you always put God first. Growing up I remember my dad saying a quote that has always stuck with me. He said “Always put God first in your life, your family second, and your job and everything else third; as long as God is first in your life everything else will fall into place.”
- I pray that you continue to grow spiritually. "Pray that your husband will grow spiritually and consider his accountability before the Lord. Pray that he will guard his heart by developing spiritual disciplines- Bible reading and study, prayer, mediation, scripture memorization.” (31 days of prayer for your husband) Sometimes things may become difficult in life, but as long as you are walking with the Lord He will guide your steps.
- I pray that we grow together in Christ. Not only do I pray that we grow with Christ as individuals, I pray that we grow together in Christ.
- I will believe in you. Even when you face trials and lose hope, I promise to believe in you even when you do not believe in yourself.
- Your happiness is my happiness. When you are happy I will be happy with you, and when you hurt, I will hurt with you. When you love, I will love with you. Your happiness is my happiness. Just know that I won’t ever stop trying to make you happy.
- I will love you more and more each day. Each and every day I will fall more and more in love with you no matter what.
- I’ll encourage you. I have always dreamed of being the girl that makes someone want to be a better person. I hope that my achievements and everything that I do inspire and encourage you to find your own success.
- I will make you laugh. I am the girl who loves to see people happy. No matter who I am with I love to do everything I can to make them laugh. I am a goofy person so I will do whatever it takes to make you laugh, even when you don’t feel like laughing.
- I will challenge you. I will continue to challenge you daily so that you can reach your full potential. I promise that I will care about you and to always be honest with you even though the truth hurts sometimes. Although we may sometimes bruise, we also heal. Trials and challenges make us stronger in the end.
- Your battles are my battles. As you face battles in your life, I will be there with you every step of the way to help fight the tough things that you are going through.
- I pray that you are courageous and brave. "Be your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong." 1 Corinthians 6:13 This is my prayer for you as you go through this sometimes difficult life.
- I pray that you are a man after God’s own heart. David was a man after God’s own heart. I pray that you live a life that is pleasing to God. I pray that your life is in harmony with the Lord. I pray that your heart is His completely.
Lord, I do not know who my future husband is, but you do. So I trust you with my life because I know that you have a plan for me (Jeremiah 29:11). Patience is not my strong point, but I am working on that daily. I set my standards high so I pray that I will find a man after your own heart that puts you first in everything that he does. I pray that he has a heart of thanksgiving. I pray that he is kind, compassionate, hardworking, loving, and spiritual. I pray that he is a leader. Most importantly, I pray that no matter what he does in life; he does everything he can to glorify you. Lord, make my husband into the man that YOU want him to be, not the man I want him to be.
