My Friend Jamie!

Everyone has that special friend in their lives, a person who has been there through everything. A person who goes out of their way to help you and to make sure you're alright. The person you want to tell everything to, and the first person to cross your mind. Someone who you can laugh with even when something shouldn't be as funny but is because of their contagious laugh. A friend who shows you that they care and always will. I have a special friend, who is all of these things and so much more!

I have been friends with him for about a decade now, and he's a very important person in my life. I met him through my sister and we connected and we've been friends ever since. I couldn't imagine such a fulfilling life without him. We've been through good and bad times, mostly good. I can always call him when I'm feeling down. He can brighten my day with a simple joke or smile.

He's very supportive especially with my musical career. He's been to many of my concerts if not all in high school. He has also taken out his time to pick me up and drop me off to a basketball game because I was in pep band and I didn't want to miss it. That night he had Tae Kwon Do but he didn't go to it, but instead helped me with a ride. He constantly listens to me talk about band, because I can talk about it all day. Even if I underestimate myself with playing music, he is always supportive and encouraging.

A few years ago, he was having problems with my family and he had to get away for a while. As the person I am, I always worried about him because I really didn't know what was going on or when I would be able to see him again. It scared me because I thought I lost my friend. But I wasn't going to let that happen. So one day I went up to his house hoping he was there to talk to him. I remember when I saw him, I was relieved because I thought something bad happened, but thankfully nothing did. I remember when he saw me he had this big smile on his face. I wasn't going to let him get away, because he's to important to me. After that everyone reunited again, it took long months but it worked!

See that's what friends do, in my opinion. Friends are always there for each other even when something goes wrong, they will never let you slip though their fingers. I couldn't bear to lose him, because we've been through so much together especially with my sister. That's why I call the three of us The Three Musketeers! He also takes out his time to help my family and I, even when he's busy, he always finds time.

From playing Uno, watching movies, holding turtles, and doing archery, to all of the nice talks and just hanging out. I can talk to him about anything, and I don't have to be afraid of him judging me. His kind words and great advice can turn my day around. He's like a teddy bear to give hugs to, even though he's not a hugger. He's just a great friend.

I hope each and everyone of you have a special friend. Someone who's there for you through the good and the bad. Someone who makes you laugh and smile. Someone who you can be yourself with and wouldn't change you for the world. My friend has and always will have a special place in my heart. It's people like him who make my day everyday just by being there. He has such a big heart for the people who he cares about and is just a caring person. Be thankful for your friends who are in your lives and prove to you they care, I know I am!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
