To My College Roommates

I don't know what I'd do without you..

Dear Roomies,

We've only been in school for a little over a month, which means we have only been roommates for that long. Despite this, I feel like we've lived together, let alone known each other, for an eternity.

I love that we are able to just talk to each other. I know how silly the previous statement may seem. However, there are some people that are randomly placed (yeah, how housing knew to place us together I will never know) that have horrific rooming situations. Messy roommates, altercations, and annoying roommates are no toy to play with. I'm thankful that y'all were placed in my life during my college adventure. Even deeper, I'm thankful we are able to confide in each other. The three of y'all have become some of my closest friends, and I feel we are able to talk about many things. I've noticed how when we all get together that it is VERY difficult to stop talking and go do our homework.

Not to brag on y'all (but I'm going to anyways), but I admire how dedicated y'all are. We are all education majors, and that is insanely tough. Despite this, we are all juniors, passing our classes and getting our work done on time. Heck, one of you is going off to your student teaching experience in the spring and graduating! I also love how responsible and caring y'all are. We all take care of the common area, with a calendar schedule (which pleases my OCD) that tells us when to clean. I love that we check up on each other when one is out later than normal. Not everyone has these privileges that I take for granted sometimes. I am so proud that I have y'all as my roommates, and I never fear to flaunt that.

I'm glad that I have people to go on adventures with! So far, we've gotten celebratory milkshakes, ice cream when we were feeling blue, and make random trips to Walmart to go play with light sabers (because who doesn't do that). I always know I have a lunch date to the cafe, a partner to ride to Chick Fil A with, and a study buddy because we have classes in common. I'm beyond thankful for this.

Thank y'all for dealing with me. I know I am a loaded bundle of energy who laughs too loud and for some that can be too much to handle. Here's the best part to me: y'all laugh just as loud with me, and stand by me no matter what decisions I am faced with. I mean, who else can say that they have roomies who watch Grey's together, have gossip sessions about life, and kill bugs for each other? If so, y'all are very lucky.

Honestly, I have no idea where I would be without you three ladies. It's crazy to me that this is only just the beginning of the endless memories we are going to make. I'm so blessed to have a second home with a group of girls as caring, spontaneous, and crazy as we are. Thank y'all for this amazing journey. Always remember that I love y'all, that "you've got a friend in me," and that I'm only a knock away.

Love Always,

The Blessed Roomate

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
