Why My Sisters Never Cease To Amaze Me

Dear World,

My chapter is freaking amazing. Not “my” chapter, but the chapter I am lucky enough to be a part of is freaking amazing. They never cease to amaze me, and here are a few reasons why.

1. Their dedication.

Never in my life have I met a group of people more willing to come together and work. Work hard to reach a goal, demolish expectations and defy standards. These girls work day-in and day-out to improve their chapter, their campus and their community. I can’t get over the amount of time and effort they will put into any task or project assignment assigned to them.

2. Their loyalty.

You will never, ever, ever find a group more willing to kill for you. They’re not violent, of course, but what I mean is that they have each others backs all day, every day, for any reason, all the time. Mess with one of us, you’ve messed with all of us.

3. Their selflessness.

These girls are so willing and eager to serve. I’ve seen them move mountains to rush to the aid of a sister and I’ve seen them pour hours and hours into bettering the community and their school.

4. Their passion.

They will yell their chants louder, clap more and dance even crazier than a 5-year-old hyped up on way to much caffeine. Not just because they're trying to be louder than the other chapters, but their pride and love for their sorority is so overwhelming that they can’t help but cheer about it. They know what they stand for, and they know the name they’ve got on their backs. They will forever be throwin’ what they know — not just because it’s adorable, but because their pure love and passion for their sorority is always overflowing and ever-growing.

5.Their love for each other.

There will never be a love like a sorority sister’s. If you need them, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, they are there. No matter the day or time, I know I have a group to lean on. These girls are always there, ready to jump up and help you navigate the rough waters that college and life can sometimes prove to be. From to the loss of a loved one to needing a ride home, my sisters will be there to catch you when you fall, sit with you while you're down and hug you until you want to get up. There’s not a thing they wouldn’t do for each other.

I know I’m a little bit biased, but these girls are pretty darn amazing. There is so much that they do for one another and for this chapter. Their integrity, dignity and love is so overwhelming it’s hard to put into words, and this hardly did them justice. But maybe this gave you a bit more insight on what these girls mean to me and to each other. There’s far too much to fit into one little article, but this gives you a sense of what it’s like to be in this chapter.

Thanks for reading about my awesome, beautiful, inspiring sisters.

Love,

Me

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
